On-the-Go Physical Education *COVID Style
Funded Oct 17, 2020We're currently unable to use the yoga mats regularly for student use, as COVID restrictions have heightened. It is my hopes that before the end of this year we will resume in personal physical education class on a regular bases. Fortunately, I was able to host a special morning yoga session with my students and share the good news of how we were so generously blessed with donations to secure the yoga mats, cones, bullhorn, and whistle. They were very shocked to see the equipment and even happier that I had secured the time to have a YOGA class with them. Behind the masks their eyes were lighting up!
For many of my students it was their first time using their very own yoga mat. They were so intrigued! We even took our shoes off. My students, their classroom teachers and I had an incredible morning start. At the end of the session, they were raving about yoga and didn't want to leave the mats. This was my first time teaching a complete yoga class with my students.
Now thanks to us having the mats, I plan to teach a yoga unit every school year. I even presented the idea to staff members for morning staff yoga once the pandemic is over. My students and I will also use the mats for fitnessgram testing and for station work. No matter where we find ourselves in 2021 and beyond this equipment will enrich our learning experience. Thank you so much again for your generosity.”

Funded Oct 27, 2016Thank you very much for your generosity! The printer and ink that you have provided has enriched the Physical Education learning experience for over 500 students. Our lessons are now able to meet the cognitive needs of my students.
On any give day you can see students reading fitness charts, using printed worksheets to collect data in order to calculate and evaluate their heart rate, find benefits of aerobic fitness printed on task cards used during lesson activities, and so much more. Words can not express our gratitude (no pun intended). Physical Education at our school is now PRINT-RICH and students are moving and learning while working to improve their math and reading/writing skills.
Next, my students are looking forward to lessons that include the use of technology. Unfortunately, the only technology that we have in Physical Education is a stereo to play music. I will be looking to start projects so that my students can use technology such as ipads, pedometers, and a projector to enrich the learning experience in Physical Education.”

We Need a New Physical Education Curriculum
Funded Aug 19, 2013Thank you for your generous donation. The pedometers that my students have received have helped to boost teaching and student learning in more way than I can express.
As soon as the package arrived my students opened the boxes and begin to use the pedometers in the lesson :) They were very excited to have the opportunity to use a piece of trending technology during Physical Education. A few of my students had never heard or seen a pedometer; they were so intrigued by the idea of using a device to measure the distance that they ran/moved during the lesson. Overall, I can say that my students are more motivated to increase their level of movement during Physical Education/
The pedometers have also provided me with more opportunities to teach the students math skills such as, reading multiple-digit numbers and converting steps into miles. The classroom teachers at our school are pleased to see more cross-curriculum instruction as a result of pedometers being implemented into Physical Education
Once again on behalf of my school community I would like to say "THANK YOU". Your contribution has made a world of a difference in the lives of over 500 students!”

Music Crazy Physical Education Program
Funded Nov 2, 2012I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your contribution towards our schools' Physical Education Ipod. Since my students recieved the ipod the lesson have gone so much more smooth. The students now have endless opportunities to request, download, and play the music they love at a touch of a button. No longer do we have to shuffle through CDs to find the perfect song/track for the lesson segments and particular exercises.
My students have really adopted this ipod as their own, as I mentioned before many of my students have never have the opportunity to own such an exisite piece of technology; many of them have considered the ipod their early Christmas present.
You have truley helped to improve the learning environment of our Physical Education and afterschool program. Please know that over 600 children are positively effected on a weekly basis as a result of your contribution.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Newman
Music Motivation for Movement
Funded Oct 22, 2009Words can not express the level of appreciation that my students and I have for your generosity! The financial support that you all have contributed has gone a long way. The music and CD's that were purchased has enabled my students to acquire a higher level of passion for physical activity. During Physical Education class my students are now giving 110% effort and they are exercising with happy hearts and smiles that are a mile long :) The students love music and the fact that they have the opportunity to select the music that they exercise to ignites an excitement that is indescribable. Students create a list and I burn the music of their choice to the CD's that were purchased. During lessons the students choose fast music to complete their cardio workout, which pushes them to increase their endurance. And as the lesson goes on we use the stereo also for yoga and tai-chi accompaniment. Thank you again for the support.
