My students are eager learners and are naturally drawn to improving their language skills. As English Language Learners, this eagerness helps improve their language skills as they move towards becoming English proficient. My students are from a low social and economic neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles but they have wonderful and hardworking parents that emphasizes education. Having such strong parent support limits the distractions that these students must overcome to show up to school prepared and ready to learn. My school is located in an urban neighborhood in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, this location is known throughout the city as one of the most dangerous and violent neighborhoods in the entire city. Our school has limited resources but we do everything possible to provide every student with the skills they will need to achieve academic success. A key resource is greatly needed centers on our need to improve student access to technology.
