Anatomy Students Love Histology!

The science department and I have really appreciated having these new materials this year. When I first made the list of epithelial and connective tissue slides and storage cases for my anatomy and physiology course, I did not realize that our biology courses would benefit as well.

Previously, our school had all slides mixed together so that it was difficult to determine how many of each slide we actually had. It actually took me several hours to figure out how many slides to ask for from DonorsChoose. Not only have these additional slides helped our supply, but also the storage cases have proved to be a truly effective time saver! I anticipate that we will be ordering more in the future.

Furthermore, having multiple copies of slides is infinitely helpful in class. Students often have trouble applying something they've learned in lecture, so we try to teach a small bit of information in class, and have students work on that one piece in lab. This simply was not possible for histology with only one copy of each slide. With a classroom set now, I know that both our biology and anatomy students alike will be able to take much more away from the activity.
