Help My Students Read Off the Beaten Path Dystopias!
Funded Feb 3, 2018I can't thank you enough for funding this project. I am so excited to get the materials and to use them with my current classes. They have been devouring books this year and I know that these novels will enhance their appetites for quality literature. It is so heartwarming to see how many people donated to my project and continue to care about quality literary education. Thank you!”

Funded Jan 28, 2016Dear Donors,
I cannot thank you enough for your kind donations for this project. Using these novels in my classroom was an incredible experience last year and I look forward to replicating that later in this school year. I hope to use these novels for years to come and to produce similar results.
As an English teacher, the biggest complaint that I get from my students is that the books that they have to read in school are boring and out of touch with what is going on in their lives. Schools seem to be scared of any controversy that a book may cause so they stick to the tried and true classics. I created this project in order to find new and more interesting books with which to ensnare my students. I want them to love reading and the best way to do that is to give them an interesting book that they can relate to.
With these novels, the students worked in book clubs to read and deconstruct what they read. While I only expected each group to read one book, several read 2 or more. One group read every book that I had. It was an amazing and unexpected response which only proved to me that my students are starved for literature that relates to them. This is something that we, as English Educators, need to delve further into and change the current curricular climate.
Thank you again for your kindness!”

Accio Harry Potter Prizes!
Funded Apr 25, 2016Dear Donors,
I can't thank you enough for your help with this project. It really made a difference in the outcome of my unit. The students were so excited!
This project was amazing for my students. It really led them to work harder on the challenges that I presented them in class because they knew that there were rewards at the end of them. While teaching Harry Potter is always fun, it was particularly so this time because of the added incentives.
Again, thank you for all of your kindness.”
With gratitude,
