Stop, Collaborate, and Listen! Fostering Team Building and Cooperation
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! We have had so much fun this year while learning how to work together in order to complete different tasks! Most of all, we have had so much fun building and creating, being problem solvers and artists, and learning important social and life skills through interactive play!
The students were over the moon when they saw their new puzzles and activity sets. These have quickly become wonderful incentives and rewards that the students can earn for good behavior, hard work, and sometimes just because we all deserve a little break!
I have seen such wonderful growth in the ability for students to work and play together while all getting to have their voices and ideas heard! Our teamwork and social skills have never been better, and I thank you for your role in helping us to improve and grow!”

Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The chair pockets that you helped us purchase for our class have been absolute game-changers! Before we received them, students had nowhere to put all of their books and supplies, so needless to say, the tables were a mess! Having books and pencil cases on top of the tables not only made things extremely disorganized, but were also a huge distraction for the students, as they can have a tendency to touch and play with things that are on their desks.
Now, our room is so neat and organized! The chair pockets have a ton of room and fit not only the student's books and folders, but even their pencil cases and water bottles. The top of the tables are completely empty now, which makes the room look neat and more inviting, and allows for distraction-free learning.
We have had these for several months now and they have held up wonderfully! I know, without a doubt, that I will be able to reuse these for many future classes to come! Other teachers ordered these for their own classes after seeing how great they were! Thank you again for making an investment in my students' educational needs!”

Funded Jun 21, 2022Thank you, once again, for this incredible donation! This campaign was fully funded right before we left for summer vacation, so the book order was placed on hold until we returned in September. This incredible shipment of books came at the absolute best time, as I had to change rooms, sadly inheriting an even worse class library than the one I had before. My students were shocked and delighted by the quantity and the quality of the books that arrived. There is something for everyone, and this diverse collection is certain to create a classroom full of book-lovers. I have already chosen some books to use as read-alouds, to help drive instruction and start conversations about a variety of topics. Additionally, students will be allowed to borrow these books from our new and improved classroom library to use for their independent reading.
I am so grateful for your generosity! As a person who loved to read from a young age, I am thrilled that I can now help my students begin that journey for themselves. I know that these books will be loved and appreciated by many more classes over many more years to come! The hundreds (likely thousands) of students, present and future, who will get to enjoy these books, thank you, as do I!”

Funded Apr 7, 2022Thank you so much for helping to fulfill our Donors Choose project "Fostering Our Love for Reading." Having moved into a new classroom with a class of second graders who have not been physically in-school since they were in Kindergarten, I was disappointed to see what the classroom library consisted of. I know how important it is for children to be exposed to a variety of books from a young age! This critical time in their development and in their school career will determine whether or not they will develop a life-long love for reading.
The students' eyes lit up when our new books arrived in our classroom! They have been devouring all of the new titles and genres of books and have expressed so much appreciation for them! Not only are these books being used for pleasure, but we have been able to incorporate them into our instructional activities, using them to help enforce the skills we are working on in our literacy program, such as main idea, character study, story elements, cause and effect, problem and solution, using context clues to discover word meaning, and so on.
Students have been allowed to borrow these books from our library to use for independent reading time, or when they are finished working on their current assignments. All books have reading levels, so students are encouraged to pick books on their reading level or on the next level up in order to challenge them a bit. The higher level students are especially enjoying the chapter books, of which we had very few prior to this. We are also using some of our new books for classroom read-alouds.
I am happy to report that every single child in this class has been demonstrating a love for reading and has been eager to read as many of our new books as possible. It has been a joy to see the smiles on their faces and to see them look at our new library with as much enthusiasm as they would look at toys in a toy store!
Thank you again for helping us to begin to build our dream library. Your gift will not just benefits the students in my class today, however. I can guarantee that these books will make hundreds of students just as happy in the years to come!”

Funded Dec 31, 2021It has been a few months since we've had our new copy machine delivered to our classroom, and it has already made a significant difference for my students and for myself. In a school with nearly 1000 students, it can be nearly impossible to get copies made in time for the lesson that they correlate to (and that's after getting approval to submit for copies), and the two large copy machines in our school are either broken or out of toner. As a teacher of both general education and special education students, this makes it extremely difficult to be able to provide my students with the differentiated worksheets that they need in order to complete the tasks that are designed specifically for their learning styles and needs.
Having a copy machine in the classroom has taken a huge stressor out of my day! I can easily create differentiated tasks for different groups of students and print them on the spot (and make extra copies for when the students lose them!) The student's are still amazed when I am able to magically start the copy machine in the back of our classroom while sitting at my desk, using the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology.
We have been able to do some special projects, including one that taught the students about positive self-talk and kindness towards others, where each student was able to get their own poster printed with their name on it. The students loved this project so much, and plan on hanging them up at home. Projects like these, as well as our daily lessons, would have been much more difficult to accomplish without the generosity of your donation. Please know that your kindness has made a big difference in the lives of 20 very special students (and two appreciative teachers!)”

Ms. F
