New School Year, Here We Come!
Funded Aug 22, 2023Your donations for the various items have been helpful for my classroom. We have had so much use for them and the students are looking forward to the special toys that have been set aside for future use. They are so grateful and excited that people they don't know have so generously donated to our classroom.
Your kindness has opened their eyes to the goodness of others and is helping them feel more kind-hearted themselves. Our excited students will get busy with their hands and their minds as they engage in our products.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Mathew

Funded Sep 29, 2022Your generous donations allowed our class to partake in our very first S.T.E.A.M. party. A S.T.E.A.M. party is where students get a chance to engineer, use their science skills, apply technology, the arts and their mathematical thinking while celebrating with their peers. Our class works very hard all day, week and month and when they finally earn enough points from all the hard work they do, they earn a S.T.E.A.M. party to celebrate intellectually.
I have been prepping my students for the S.T.E.A.M. party by telling them about the wonderful gifts we received. The students were shocked and amazed at how 'strangers' could generously donate money towards kids they don't even know. When they saw the multiplication game, the building gears and building bricks they were going to partake in, they were very excited to collaborate and engineer.
With these products, students were able to 'synergize' like we teach in our school and build and explore. Moving forward, we will continue to apply science and math skills into our upcoming S.T.E.A.M. challenges.”

Funded Jan 11, 2022Your contributions to our Engineers on the Rise collection surpassed our expectations. Ever since the goggles entered our science lab, scientists have embraced the activities, took ownership over their tasks, and assumed the pride and responsibility of a true scientist.
The goggles are worn when conducting hands on experiments, emphasizing the importance of safety and certainty. Along with the goggles, were the microscopes and other essential needs for a lab.
We are grateful for the time, energy and financial support you provided because it allowed my students to feel even more immersed in the beauty of science.”

Learning to Read and Reading to Learn!
Funded Mar 16, 2021Your donation impacted my students more than you know! Their remote year was far more successful and fun because of your generosity. The sight word readers provided the students with some hands on books that were easy for them to read independently. The books were colorful, inviting and had words for them to practice and master, which gave them an extra boost of confidence that they needed.
The phonics workbooks were also a great asset. Students who were remote were unable to receive quality instruction and at the primary stages, phonics is vital. Receiving those phonics workbooks provided ample practice in letter recognition and sounds. The students who received those books were able to boost their phonemic awareness skills and writing skills.
Finally, we were grateful for the math number charts that were also provided. Students loved having a hundreds chart math grid that they could access. We counted regularly, identified numbers and used the dry erase side to record number sense problems. In addition to all the development of reading skills, the math skills also improved because of the math chart students held in hand.
Overall, all the items purchased made a difficult year that more fun and exciting for my kids and made them more eager to come to school! Thank you for your support!”

Funded Aug 26, 2018My library was looking very bare and unappealing and didn't offer any exciting topics or subjects for my budding scientists to peruse through. When I introduced brand new books with such simple, nonfiction topics such as 'how a crayon is made' or 'flooding', my scientists were immediately intrigued because it related to topics they could relate to and were curious to learn more about. Scientists were eager to read through the text and share some key facts they thought were most interesting. These books will be used as a resource for students to collect and gather data from. As they learn about various topics, such as magnetic forces, plants and animals, the environment and more, they will refer to these books to support their ideas and findings.
In our science classroom, we have many opportunities for students to access the informational books you provided. One opportunity is when students have completed their tasks at hand. Students are motivated to complete their work quicker so they can get a chance to visit the library. Other times the books are used are when students are faced with challenging questions or pose their own questions, and have to find evidence or clues in the text to get to their final answer. Now that the library is amped up, groups of our scientists can explore through it, even on their free time! My scientists and I will explore reading for research to help build our knowledge base and support our hands on investigations. In the words of a few of my students, "so cool"!
Lastly, we are especially grateful because these nonfiction books help certain kids, who typically are overwhelmed with the lesson, see realistic visuals and feel the hard copy explanations of what they are learning. For the visual learner, the reader and the nonreader, these books provide a window to explore factories, environments, animal habitats, volcanoes, countries and more, that we can only get from opening a book. Thank you for providing that opportunity.”
