Think about how often you pick up your phone or iPad. Now, imagine if you had no phone or iPad to pick up! Teaching in an under-resourced district, in a school where 96% of students come from low income households, classroom technology is hard to come by. Most of my students do not have access to computers and tablets at home, but are still expected to "perform" on standardized tests with little technology exposure. Technology education and exposure should be the right of a modern, global student. Your donation would give my students access to the technology they deserve, allowing them the opportunity to develop the same skills as students in more affluent districts. iPads are used throughout the day, during both math and literacy instruction (and don't forget during playtime, because as we all know, six year olds need to play!) Students will be able to hone motor skills and develop problem solving skills through the use of this technology. iPads provide fun, engaging, repeated reinforcement of concepts learned together in class, as well as an opportunity for more differentiated, targeted learning through the use of various apps.
