My students need iPads in the room, as it's our source to take notes for those do not have access to technology at home. This year I am planning to flip my classroom and it will be amazing if we have couple iPads in our classrooms for students to use! I love being able to do all of this, but most of all I like seeing my students excited to DISPLAY and then discuss and/or defend their work. We have engaged in many rich, mathematical discussions and debates as a result and hearing my students converse about math is just the most awesome thing! When my students display their work by recording their work, passionate mathematical discussions tend to follow. And when my students converse about math, I learn more about their abilities. I have caught many misunderstandings and misconceptions as a result of students challenging one another intellectually. Similarly, when students can communicate using proper mathematical vocabulary to teach each other, not only does this make my classroom feel more college like, but I know they've mastered the material as well!
