  • Science Materials For Our Green Club

    Funded Nov 13, 2023

When our students first saw the materials, their excitement was palpable. They were eager to dive into hands-on activities and explore the possibilities that the new resources offered. The STEM challenge kit inspired creativity, as students began brainstorming ideas for designing and building their own sustainable solutions to environmental problems.

Moving forward, the next steps for our students involve further exploration and application of the concepts learned through these projects. We plan to utilize our hydroponics garden, experimenting with different plant species and growing techniques. Additionally, we will continue to use the water testing kit to monitor and analyze environmental factors affecting water quality in our community. Through ongoing classroom lessons and projects, we aim to deepen our students' understanding of environmental science and empower them to take action as advocates for a greener future.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Green

  • Baltimore City English Learners Need Supplies

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

With the new resources obtained through the project, our students have been able to engage in more interactive and hands-on learning experiences. One specific project that utilized the composition books, pencils, and dry erase markers involved creating personalized language journals. The pencils were used for writing exercises, while the dry erase markers allowed students to brainstorm and practice language skills on the classroom whiteboard. Pictured are two students using Roll-A-Story to draw a picture and annotate the picture.

When the students first saw the materials, their reactions were filled with excitement and curiosity. Many of them had never had access to their own composition books or dry erase markers before, so having these supplies exclusively for their use was a novel experience. They eagerly flipped through the pages of their composition books and tested out the markers on the whiteboard, already brainstorming ideas for what they could write and draw.

Moving forward, the next steps for our students involve incorporating the new resources into their daily language learning activities. We plan to continue using the composition books for writing exercises, journaling, and note-taking during lessons. Additionally, we will integrate the use of dry erase markers into interactive language games and activities on the whiteboard, allowing students to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English in a dynamic and engaging manner. By leveraging these resources, we aim to further support the language development and academic success of our ESOL students.”

  • Help Support Our ESOL Students!

    Funded May 12, 2023

I cannot express my gratitude enough at your generous donations. We have been using our materials in many ways. To remind you of who you have helped, we have two ESOL (English as a Second Language) teachers who have been using the materials with their students. Many of the students are new to the country and come from places such as Venezuela and Guatemala.

We have been using the projector in instruction. It is very easy to connect to our computers and the white screen is amazing to project on. In the pictures that are uploaded you will see a student using the markers purchased to make a poster for our Green Club). We are using the printer to make color copies that help our students learn English.

Once again, thank you for your generous donation!”

  • Sensory, Literacy, and Math Items

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

I cannot describe how lucky I am to have this project funded by you. We used the items that you gave us so frequently and they became such an integral part of my students daily needs.

The sand timers were especially effective. Rather than sending a student to time out for an amount of time, I could tell them which color timer to take for a break. They were able to watch the sand and think about their choices which calmed them. Once they returned they could talk about their actions. My students were so used to the timers that when they had done something wrong, they were able to take them on their own without prompting.

Also other items are frequently used such as tissues (lots of runny noses!), the fidget bands (especially helpful for some special friends who needed to have something in their hands) and the liquid motion bubbler (when someone was really sad they looked at the bubbles and it would help them to stop crying).

My students especially loved the water painting boards. They loved to fill the water themselves, take time with their pictures and paint letters.

Once again thank you for your generous donation ”

  • Cuties Explore Camping, Space, the Post Office and Birthdays!

    Funded Apr 18, 2022

I cannot thank you enough for supporting my project "Cuties Exploring Camping, Space, the Post Office and Birthdays". Your generous donation took this idea and made it into a reality and that was so important for this unit.

The resources you helped me to provide went into the students center areas. We had a camping center where students could go in a tent with their friends and tell stories, a fire-building center where the students would cook on a grill and roast marshmallows over a fire, a birthday party center where my students hosted Encanto birthday parties, a post office where my students could dress up as a postal worker and deliver mail from the post office, a space center where my students would dress up as an astronaut and blast off into space on their rocket and a fishing center where the students could row a boat and go fishing.

When they saw things such as the birthday cake, the tent, the fully erected post office and the boat, they were so excited to dive in and start exploring. They also were very curious about items they had never seen before such as a compass.

We will continue to use these wonderful items in years to come.”

  • Items Needed for Cute Pre-K Class

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Your donation has made some classroom magic possible. The supplies that you gave us have helped me to create some wonderful centers for our Pet/Vet theme such as: obedience school, a pet store, an animal shelter and a vet's office. The students especially loved being a vet and delivering puppies from the mommy dog. This unit has taught my students to have empathy and compassion for animals.

My students were so excited to play with many of the cute animal toys that they received such as the cuddly kittens. They were also very interested in many of the animal training items and have been using the clicker and pet wands to train animals to sit, jump through a hoop and walk with them.

My next step on this project is to make sure that students are involved in a print rich environment. They will be making signs for the adoptable animals to show how special each animal is.”

  • Becoming A Doctor In Pre-K

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

My students had a super comprehensive Doctor Unit thanks to your generous donations. We had six centers related to being a medical professional: a waiting room, a doctor's office, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pharmacy, a dentist's office, and an emergency room. One of my favorite moments was when the students would get very creative in their play. For instance, they would have to give a child a shot and the child would be scared. Another student would step in to become the parent, and comfort the child, and the doctor would give the child a sticker once they had their shot.

When we first unpacked the supplies, the students were very excited about some of the supplies that they recognized, such as a stethoscope and the baby dolls. But other items were things they had never seen before such as the dentist tools and tools used for the EMTs. Eventually they became familiar with these items and love to use them.

My next steps for my students on this project are to deepen their roles in the environment. Not only to play with the items as intended but to solve problems by working together.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Green

  • Curriculum and a Teaching Easel for Pre-K Cuties in Baltimore!

    Funded Aug 25, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for your donation for my classroom. It has been wonderful using materials from the supply kits and the teaching easel. I use these items for instruction everyday, multiple times a day.

I unpacked the items with my students to get them excited for it. One little girl said "this is all for us?!", with a huge smile on her face.

We use the easel to practice forming letter shapes and letters, and I use it to model instruction such as making a play plan (a written plan that each child creates). We use the hands on materials everyday in small groups, whether it be making collections with our math manipulatives or playing letter games to learn letters.

I will be using these materials for the rest of the school year and for years to come. I am incredibly grateful to you and couldn't have afforded this on my own.”

  • Outdoor Learning for Pre-K In Baltimore City!

    Funded Apr 8, 2021

First and foremost, your donations helped our students and teachers to be safe! We were outside a lot and this was very helpful to make sure that we didn't spread germs.

We used the wagons to transport the materials everyday. Our students loved using the parachutes, the boxes to store natural materials and the magnifying glasses to look at them, the yoga mats to sit on and all the soccer materials to play soccer. We also used all the other materials and loved them!

Our students had huge wide eyes and were so excited when we showed them their new supplies. They loved them all year.

The next steps for this is to let our current new students to use the outdoor equipment. We are sure they will treasure this too!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Green
