New Year, New Books!
Funded Oct 3, 2024One of the greatest joys of teaching kindergarten is watching their little lies light up as they learn to blend together the letter sounds they worked so hard to learn. As they do this, they are able to read their first words on their own, and surprised by their own progress. All of this work would be wasted time if they don't have reading material in their hands to practice the skills they have learned. To that end, we are incredibly indebted for your generosity in providing us with the beginning reader decodables. These kiddos never forget their first books!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lou
This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and one other donor. It Takes a Village to Help Us Grow in Kindergarten!
Funded Mar 24, 2024Thank you so much for all of your contributions! We have already begun using so many of the supplies and tools that your generous donations provided for us.
The students in K211 are enthusiastic learners and their growth is dependent on this connection between the classroom and home.
This last month we used our tools to tap out sounds and read tricky words. We used the whiteboard and accessories to display and interact with letters, numbers and words.
Thank you again for your generosity. I know these kiddos are making you (and me) proud.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lou
An Happy, Organized Classroom Makes for Happy, Organized Learning!
Funded Dec 1, 2023I cannot begin to thank you enough for your generous donations. As a result, our K-211 family is a more organized and productive space. The clean, accessible (and large) whiteboard has provided a space for me to do so many things with my kiddos. I am now able to visibly display the words of the week so that they are able to access those words as we practice using them in sentences, building them and unscrambling them. I am also able to display a number line/number path for reference during our math activities. Finally, and most importantly at this stage of their reading development, I am able to display magnetic alphabet cards that we can manipulate to create CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) words and practice the blending of sounds to read a word.
It gives me so much joy to watch the kiddos lead morning meeting, following the organized flow of our meeting space. Their confidence is growing along with their reading, writing and math skills. As you well know, I value their social emotional development as much as any of this and strive to build a community that is full of kindness. Thank you for the kindness that you showed in helping me with this project!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lou
