Our school is in a very diverse neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. We have over 600 students from preschool to 8th grade. Our students are very energetic and love physical activity. They self-assess themselves every day using the OMNI Rate of Perceived Exertion scale. They also love learning about the body and it's response to exercise, in particular the heart. We do fitness testing two times a year with a goal of improving from our previous scores. This year we have learned about soccer, lacrosse, basketball, football, and volleyball, as well as dancing, teamwork, and flexibility. Part of our daily routine is working on our personal and social responsibility. We have quotes from famous Chicagoans posted on our walls as a daily reminder that we can achieve anything we want in life as long as we are willing to work for it.
