Great Books for Great Kids!

I would like to first say thank you so much for your wonderful donations. We were able to get our classroom library up and running just a few days after we came back from Christmas break. The kids were amazed by the variety of books we received and how easy it was for them to choose "Good Fit" books, which are books on their independent reading level.
The first day the kids were able to shop for books out of the new leveled library, they made comments like "This is so awesome", "Wow! Picking books is a lot faster now", "These are the greatest books" and "I LOVE THESE NEW BOOKS!" They are so interested in reading now, even more than before.
Now when it's time to read independently or to a partner my students are excited. They have books that they can be successful reading, which boosts their confidence. They are getting a good mix of both fiction and non-fiction books as well. We are so blessed by all your help and support.”

My student are a wonderful group of children. They are African American children from the city of Ferguson. Most of them are from low income families, reading below grade level and have recently had to experience two episodes of rioting that happened literally in their back yard. Our school has been a safe haven for some of our students to get away from all that is happening around them.
