Classroom Library Growing 2nd Grade Readers
Funded Dec 1, 2014I am so grateful for your kindness and support of my classroom and students. Receiving our products upon our return from Winter Break was the perfect timing. The students opened each box as if they were opening presents on Christmas morning. As we went through titles of books you could hear the "oohs and aahs" or "I can't wait to read that one!." It was heart warming to see them get so excited over new books. The bean bags were a big hit as well. Each student has finally gotten a turn sitting on them and reading. Some say the bean bags help them focus on reading more. While others simply like getting comfy while reading. My principal has even stopped by to relax in one.
Now that I have my leveled library organized and set up, it is really helping me to make sure that the students are reading "good fit" books. They know their reading levels and have enjoyed exploring the different titles with their guided reading groups. We have done our first check out and students are anxiously awaiting to check out again. They are even excited about the titles that they will get to read once they move up to the next level.
These materials have enhanced my teaching and the students' learning. At a time where students might be getting a little hum drum about school they have gotten a boost to keep them focused on becoming better readers. Your generosity has had a positive impact on them and their families in that they know that people care about them as learners and are willing to help them succeed in their educational journey. I can not thank you enough for caring.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Jenkins
