For All Your Printing Requirements!
Funded May 5, 2020I just wanted to share with you how having a color printer changed my ability to teach during remote/ distance learning. I was able to scan the worksheets that I brought home from my classroom into my computer. This now allowed me to share vital readings and worksheets with my students while they were working from home.
The DonorsChoose.org community has always been there when I needed them. Teaching like raising kids takes a village and I am so thankful for the community that I have found in DonorsChoose.org.
Now that we are moving back into the classroom, I will be bring the printer back to school. Students are no longer allowed to share paper. This powerhouse of a printer will be able to handle the hundreds of copies per day I will need to make so that each student can have their own individual copy of the worksheet.
Thanks again for making my job just a little bit easier.”

Funded Feb 4, 2020Thank you so much Donors for the cricut machine. It has had a tremendous impact in my classroom. We have just started putting together our periodic table in the main hallway of our school. The periodic squares for each element that the students have been making are coming out amazing. They have used the machine to cut out atom diagrams and stickers of the elements name, symbol and atomic mass and number. We have been using the machine consistently in almost all of our topics.
Our next unit is rocks and minerals and plate tectonics. The students are very excited to use the cricut to make stickers to show how the plates moves and the various types of rocks. The rock cycle will look amazing when we can display it as a class with the amazing things the cricut can do. The students are also enjoying learning how to use the machine. It involves using and learning a new computer program that involves learning how to size the sticker and how to enlarge it to scale for our bulletin boards.
Thanks again for this opportunity for my students to discover how creative and exciting and colorful science can really be.”

Funded Jan 9, 2020In this year's science class, technology will play a big role. We are now using a new curriculum which is digitally based. My student are expected to do all lessons on the computer every day. Without technology the students wouldn't be able to get the most out of the new curriculum. In the beginning of the year I was photocopying student notebook pages so that the students who didn't have computers could see what they needed to do. This took hours of time and wasted so much paper in copies. Thanks to the computers from Donors Choose.org, technology has increased my student's learning experience computer by computer.
In science class we play games that help us review for tests. The first is Kahoot. Kahoot is a tool for using technology to administer quizzes, discussions or surveys. It is a game based classroom response system played by the whole class in real time. Multiple-choice questions are projected on the screen. This gives my class and I practice test questions. This is an excellent way to review for a test and we only have access to it because we now have computers in the classroom. Another online game called Quizizz gives free self-paced quizzes to review, assess, and engage—in class. Both of these online games prepare us for tests and many of my students would not be able to achieve high scores on tests without these practice games.
Furthermore, we use computers to help us learn through virtual labs. Virtual labs help us learn so much because a virtual lab is an interactive environment for creating and conducting simulated experiments: a playground for experimentation. It consists of domain-dependent simulation programs, experimental units called objects that encompass data files, tools that operate on these objects. Computers give us the ability to conduct these quick and effective labs.
In addition, computers give us helpful videos, images, and lots of
information and articles we could never have received from a textbook. There are billions of sources to receive valuable science information from. Videos and images can present us with visual demonstrations which can be extremely effective in learning about a science topic. There are so many different learning styles.
Thanks again for helping my students get the most out of the learning by adding the needed technology to my classroom.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019Having an I pad in my classroom has made a big impact on how my class learns. Using an I pad has allowed my to translate science material into a multiple of languages very quickly. It has helped science become fun again for students struggling with their English. This would not be possible without Donors Choose and the support from the donors. From interactive labs to fun class activities, technology has greatly helped our school over the years. With the help of this I pad, I believe our school can find new and creative ways to incorporate technology into our lessons.
This I pad has allowed us to learn in inventive and entertaining ways. For example, we have used it for virtual labs throughout the school year. Working in partnerships, we can use websites to perform experiments and collect data about different topics. Websites like "Quizizz" and 'Kahoot!" allow our class to compete against each other with questions for our upcoming tests. This brings a competitive and fun element to the classroom and is very enjoyable.
To add on, class tasks like rotation labs and stations would not be possible for the ESL learner without the I pad. It is so small and portable it can go from station to station with the students to help translate all questions into their own language. This is great since in some classes I have as many as 4 or 5 different languages. We also use videos to answer our station questions and collect research from linked sites. All in all, Donors Choose allows our school to perform activities and labs that we could not do without technology in our classroom. With continuous support, I can continue to come up with innovative new ways to support the learning of students.”

Funded Oct 28, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations towards this project. My students have been so excited about having computers just to be used in science class since the moment I told them that I put a DonorsChoose.org project together. The computers from this project will allow all 165 of my 7th grade science students to do virtual labs in class. Computers are the future and I am so happy that DonorsChoose.org was able to help me bring my classroom to the future.
Upon arrival of the computers, the students could not wait to get the computers out of the boxes and onto their desks. They felt very fortunate to have access to the Internet during class time. We now are able to go to interactive websites to learn, play games, watch videos and do labs when we want to without having to wait for a computer cart to be available. The computers have enhance the knowledge of my students tremendously. The enjoy coming to class knowing that they will not just be copying notes but learning through student led discussions and activities that are computer based.
Currently, my students are using the computers to explore the digestive system. Before this we used the computers to explore all the other systems of the human body. The computers have allowed the students to delve deeper into the inner workings of their bodies. They have had the ability to do various virtual labs, watch videos clips, and just do research to help them get a more complete picture on the topic.
The whole process of DonorsChoose.org was easy to use and I look forward to putting together more projects for my classes in the future. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for having given us this experience.”

Funded Aug 27, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations towards this project. My students have been so excited about having computers just to be used in science class since the moment I told them that I put a DonorsChoose.org project together. One student was so excited that she blurted this out during class, "We no longer have to put our names on a list to borrow the school computer cart." Teaching science involves students having the opportunities to do labs. Unfortunately with limited supplies and time it is often hard to do actual labs. The computers from this project will allow all 165 of my 7th grade science students to do virtual labs in class. The world is now digital and a science classroom needs to be digital too. I am so happy that DonorsChoose.org was ability to help me bring my classroom into the digital world.

Funded Jun 10, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations to my project. My students and I are very happy to have a safe place to charge and store our classroom computers in our classroom. One student was so excited that she blurted this out during class, "We no longer have to put our names on a list to borrow the school computer cart." Teaching science involves students having the opportunities to do labs. Unfortunately with limited supplies and time it is often hard to do actual labs. The computer cart from this project will allow all 165 of my 7th grade science students to do virtual labs in class because they will always have fully charged working computers now. Computers are the future and I am so happy that DonorsChoose.org was able to help me keep my classroom computers safe and charged for student use.
Upon arrival of the computers cart, the students could not wait to get the computers out of the closet were they were being kept to put them into the charging station. Our computers will always be charged now and safely locked up when we are not using them. They are so happy to now have access to the Internet during class time without having to worry about charging them the day before we want to use them. . The enjoy coming to class knowing that they will not just be copying notes but learning through student led discussions and activities that are computer based.
