My students are part of a Title 1 school community. They are primarily from low income homes and have little in terms of technology resources. Many of them have never had the opportunity to visit a public library. All of our students receive free breakfast daily and the majority are on the free and reduced lunches. A majority do not have both parents, have only one parent, they live with relatives other than their parents, or they are homeless. Despite their hardships and home life, they come to school each day ready to learn in my class. They look forward to seeing their peers and sharing their learning. I try to make their day special and memorable. They are typical 8 year-olds and curious about everything. They all want to be on a computer, but they are so precious about our situation. I have several IEP kiddos, plus two ELL kids who speak very little to no English. The class understands that these kids need to use the computers a little more often. They are great!
