The Quest for 1:1 And Fancy Seating
Funded Sep 13, 2016Thank you so much for your help getting mu students Chromebooks and more alternative seating options. I have a class of 35 this year and I simply can't supply everything they need on my own. Through your donations my class is more equal and more balanced than it was at the start of the year.
We were given both Chromebooks and alternative seating options. The Chromebooks were immediately put into circulation and students have done many research projects on them and used them in a wide variety of assignments, including creating videos. They love that.
The seating, since I don't have normal chairs in my class, moves around to different students every day. Some love the wobble stools, others prefer the beanbag chairs, so it's nice that I was able to supply them with choice like that. Comfort is paramount to learning. And so is flexibility. Thank you for making that happen.”

Chromebooks for Fifth Graders
Funded Sep 18, 2015Thank you so much for your help in moving my classroom towards a 1:1 place of learning for my students. To say we constantly use the Chromebooks would be an understatement. We are using all of the Google apps, coding, researching, and more every day. Code.org and kidblog get the most non-Google use. With the Chromebooks we can be doing these things all the time, not just during out two computer lab times each day. When we get new tools or want to learn about new things, out come the Chromebooks and up perks their energy. Thank you for giving my kids the gift of technology.”

I Took Your Chair: An Experiment in Seating
Funded Jan 19, 2015These chairs have greatly improved my classroom environment. My students happily sit in class now. That's right- students are HAPPY in CLASS! And part of that is because of you and your donation. They love to sit on our new seats. The wobble stools and giant bean bag chair (which has somehow become known as The Blueberry) are by far the most popular. The kids aren't really sure about the Back Jack chairs. They like them, but they're always one of the last choices.
EXCEPT they aren't, because the last choice is a traditional chair. And that's because of you. It's pretty obvious that, when given the choice, students won't sit in a hard, plastic, inflexible chair to learn. They'd rather stand or sit on the floor. The increased comfort means increased attention spans and improved attitude.
When the chairs came the students were very excited. I hadn't told them what was coming, and the reveal was a lot of fun. I recorded it and put it on my blog (http://hestheweirdteacher.blogspot.com/2015/01/donors-choose-unboxing-and-testing-video.html).
So thank you a million times. I can't wait for the next group of kids to come into our room and see desks on the floor and beanbags strewn about.”
