  • Project Based Learning Activities Spark Creativity

    Funded Nov 11, 2024

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Project-based learning (PBL) offers many benefits to English language learners, including hands-on activities, peer interaction, rich language use, and a chance to explore personal interests and collaborate with classmates. My ELL students feel a sense of pride and accomplishment while completing project-based learning activities that correspond with our learning objectives.

Some of the projects we completed were learning about traditions and the Macy's Day Parade. Afterward, we made our balloons for the parade. My Kindergarteners were also able to put on a reader's theater of "The Gingerbread Man." We have also been able to go on virtual field trips to the rainforest, national parks, and space. These educational experiences enhance their education and are engaging. Thank you for helping me be able to provide the resources for our project-based learning experiences!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Geouque

  • Differentiated Materials and Projects

    Funded Jun 27, 2023

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful donation to my classroom. We were able to purchase differentiated materials and projects to use throughout the year. I was also able to purchase resources to meet all the students' needs.

My students have enjoyed the hands-on materials, games, and resources. They are eager to learn and practice their English in a fun and engaging manner. Learning has come to life for my sweet English language learners because of generous people like you. Again, thank you for making English come to life for my EL students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Geouque

  • Celebrating Diversity

    Funded Oct 5, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation towards our "Celebrating Diversity" campaign. Thanks in part to you, we were able to celebrate our students' diverse cultural backgrounds while sharing their customs and heritage with their peers.

We used our Teacher pay Teacher gift cards to buy material to incorporate diversity into the classroom and hallways. We focused on two projects. Holidays around the world and Multilingual signs.

During the holiday season, we decorated the hallways and classroom with signs and posters about the various ways our students celebrate the holidays in their home countries. We also hung multilingual signs around the school to help bridge the communcation gap between our ESL students and their peers. It was great to see students communicating in new ways and attempting new languages themselves.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Geouque

  • Adapted Novels: Literacy for All

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our ELL students in their journey to learn the English Language. Your donation allowed our program to purchase adaptive novels for our secondary students. The adaptive novels include pictures and notes in addition to the standard text for each book which greatly aids in the comprehension of the material.

We have seen two benefits with the uses of these novels. Most importantly, our students have gained confidence in their understanding of the material which increased their desire to participate in classroom discussions. There has also been an increase in their test scores because their understanding of the material is much higher.

The majority of our students now prefer to use the adaptive novels in place of the books provided by the district. They are a true asset in our growing library of tools to support our students' needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Geouque

  • Classroom Collaboration Chairs

    Funded Apr 1, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom. Your generosity helped us reach our goal of providing new learning centers to support Kindergnaters thru 12th grade. An important part of our students' development is effective communication. The new learning centers allow the students to break into small groups and conduct real-time conversations about a variety of topics including world events, community activities, and school assignments.

Before the centers, open dialogue among the students was difficult. Everyone seat in their assigned seats, desks all in a row. When we broke the students into small groups in the new relaxed setting their communication began to flow more freely.

With students from 8 countries, our goal is to break down communication barriers and allow our students to feel at home. Thanks to you we have begun this process. In the year to come, we will continue to find new ways to support our amazing students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Geouque

Our elementary, middle, and high school are all connected! I teach small groups in grades K-12 in the same classroom. Currently, my younger students need to sit on their knees in order to be high enough to complete work. I am recreating the seating to provide a safer and more effective learning environment. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them comfortable seating options to make more effective learning choices. I have seen how the classroom learning environment can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the chairs will help us focus and grow even more!
