Giggles crack through the quiet buzz of my classroom. Instead of reminding my students to stay quiet, I am so excited to hear that sound. It's the sound of a student reading independently in my classroom. It's the sound of a third grade student reading Junie B. Jones! I am a third grade teacher in an urban Public School to 28 amazing students. The majority of my enthusiastic students receive free or reduced lunch. More than half are English Language Learners.
