  • Just Read!

    Funded Apr 8, 2025

My class and I are incredibly grateful for the new books we've added to our classroom library. These additions have made a meaningful impact, especially for our junior high students who are drawn to realistic fiction. These stories speak directly to their experiences, and many students find themselves unable to put the books down. They relate to the characters' challenges and emotions, often seeing their own lives reflected in the pages. Through these narratives, they not only feel seen, but also learn important coping skills.

We've also added an exciting selection of mystery and fishing novels—genres that have sparked the interest of some of our most reluctant readers. These stories are engaging and accessible, pulling in students who previously didn't consider themselves readers. It's been wonderful to see their enthusiasm grow.

Many of these books will be used in student book groups. These discussions encourage students to think deeply, share perspectives, debate ideas, and connect with the motives and decisions of characters. Watching them engage in respectful, thoughtful conversations is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

This project has truly energized our classroom reading culture. While I always encourage my students to read, having access to fresh, vibrant titles with eye-catching covers makes a huge difference. It's a joy to see students curled up in our cozy reading area, completely immersed in their new books. This experience has made my job even more fulfilling, and I'm so thankful for the support that made it possible.”

  • Read to Succeed!

    Funded Mar 5, 2025

My class and I are so incredibly grateful for new books to add to our classroom library. Many of my students love realistic fiction since they can relate to the situations the characters encounter. They read about tough situations that students, sometimes go through in their own lives, and they can learn coping skills through reading.

Many of these books will be used for AR where students will share what they are reading through their writing. They learn so much by writing about what they read and reflecting on many topics where they share their views, debate, and are challenged to look at both sides of an issue. They are encouraged to push their thinking and make connections to situations and the motives of characters. It's really fun to see them grow through their writing.

This project has encouraged my students to read even more. I expect them to read, read, read, but having new books with fresh, vibrant covers captivates students much more than old, used books. I love seeing them curled up, relaxed in my 'cozy area' with their new books. It makes my job very rewarding.”

  • Cheers for a New Year

    Funded Sep 27, 2024

My cheer team and I are incredibly grateful for the cheer shoes, bows, and jackets to complete our look this year. Each item is not just a piece of gear but a symbol of our camaraderie and shared passion for cheerleading.

The sparkle of the cheer bows makes us stand out on the sidelines. The bow is more than just a bow; it's a token of our teamwork and unity. I can't wait to see the girls rocking them at our next game!

The shoes not only look great, but they also provide the support we need for those long hours of practice and performances. The shoes are an essential part of cheerleading.

Last but not least, the jackets. Wow, they are sharp! Wearing them makes us look unified and showcases our team spirit. We are building a sense of pride with our new team.

Thank you once again for supporting our team. These items will make our team experience even more special. Here's to more cheers, more victories, and unforgettable memories together!”

  • We've Got Spirit, How 'bout You?

    Funded Oct 9, 2024

My cheer team and I are so incredibly grateful for cheer bows, shoes, and jackets. These items will bring much-needed pride and unity to our team during the season and make the team look sharp. The shoes will help our building skills and safety so that team members can be properly lifted in pyramids.

This project has encouraged my team to work harder at practice so their skills are as good as the 'look' they will have. Having new shoes, bows, and jackets in our vibrant school colors will capture the eye of our crowd and help us show school spirit at our games and performances. I love seeing the team excited and ready for their season. It makes my job very rewarding. Thank you for providing the items we need for a successful year.”

  • Get Cozy, Comfortable, and Read!

My class and I are so incredibly grateful for the new books to add to our classroom library and the flexible seating. Many students love to sit on the floor when working in groups and the portable lap desk is great because it provides a table-top workspace while seated. The yoga balls and desk resistance bands are amazing for students who require movement to help them keep focused on daily tasks.

I see approximately 140 great students each day for reading class. These students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds in rural Illinois. In our district over 60% of students receive free or reduced priced lunch. My students are expected to read often while at school and at home. I want to put interesting books in their hands so they can get excited about reading. Many of the novels I choose for instruction are books/genres students wouldn't pick up on their own. I try to introduce them to classics and new authors. However, the books students choose most often are new, popular titles that are often unavailable in our school library or in my classroom library. Due to limited funds, teachers do not receive assistance in purchasing novels for their classrooms. The only new books I am able to buy are purchased through book orders.
