  • Back Together, Hands-on Learning!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. The items that you helped purchase have been used by children from the day that they arrived.

Kindergarteners have built creations during library centers, we have done several engineering challenges across grade levels, and the magnetiles and Legos have been thoroughly enjoyed by my students who are fasting for Ramadan and spending their lunch hour in the library.

This kind of tool fosters a love of learning and these high quality materials will be enjoyed for years to come. My students especially love the Legos, and when it's time to clean up they meticulously check the floor for bricks that fell because they don't want to lose even one!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Menard

  • Make Way for Independent Book Shoppers

    Funded Jan 30, 2020

Thank you so much for contributing to my project. Before we went on quarantine break, I had the chance to transfer one section of the library to front- facing bins.

It was incredible what a difference this chance made. These books are now the most heavily circulated ones in the collection. I have heard positive feedback from both students and teachers. Patrons have discovered some hidden gems, and I have been able to remove some older and less popular books that still weren't checked out.

While this is a "low-frills" project, it makes a huge difference! Thank you for helping my students discover their new favorites. I'm looking forward to getting back to school to continue the project with my intermediate chapter books, and to use the paper bins to transform my writing station.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Menard

I am asking for bins so that my readers will be able to feast their eyes on the beautiful books that we have. I begged, borrowed, and stole to get enough bins for a small section of my library to be moved into bins, and my students have discovered so many new books to love. I would like to use bins in more of the high traffic areas that are most used by my youngest students. Pets, wind animals, graphic novels, and Mo Willems books are all areas where they love to shop for books, but have a hard time finding what they are looking for. Our shelving system is difficult for little hands to navigate and bins will make navigation easier, in addition to the increased visual appeal. I spend a lot of time developing my collection: comparing prices across multiple vendors to get the best prices, attending book conferences to learn about the latest and greatest new books, and visiting bookstores and public libraries to stay in the loop. I have the books organized in a way the the students know and understand, and want to make it more appealing and easy to use. Thank you for looking at my project!
