  • Copy Paper for Curious Kids!!!

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

My students are grateful to have received copy paper. My school is located in an area where resources are scarce and parents are not always able to donate supplies to the class. Creating worksheets and making copies for each of my students is a valuable resource when we don't have workbooks to reinforce the lessons being taught. It also allows me to create extra homework that can be taken home. The parents are very grateful to have their children bring home activities from class that they can continue at home.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nunez

  • Soccer Skills For Little Pre-K Students!!!

    Funded Dec 8, 2022

My pre k students were so grateful for the new outdoor toys. They look forward to playing soccer with their friends everyday. It's great to see the team effort they have to try to make goals. They also enjoy the other toys that they received through the generous donations. These toys are a great opportunity for my students to practice their running and kicking skills. It has a lot helped them to exercise. Students in my community don't have access to many activities like these, this gives them exposure to experience real outdoor play.”

  • A Buddy for My Chair

    Funded Dec 10, 2015

Thank you very much for your generous donations. My class was very excited when we received the package. They immediately wanted to open the box, as soon as we did, they quickly placed the chair buddy on their chair. As soon, as the chair buddies where in place they began to put some of their books and supplies inside. They were able to organize their books so that they had more space on their desks. Having the chair buddies to store their books and supplies has made it easier for them to be able to work more productively. Once again, your generous donations has made a big difference in my class.”

  • My Reading Corner

    Funded Dec 27, 2014

Thank you for your generous donations. My students were very excited when I told them they would be receiving new reading books. Most of the books in our classroom library were torn and falling apart. I kept fixing them with tape, but it wasn't the same as having a new book.

My students are just starting to read, so receiving these books makes them excited about reading. They like to get the new books to practice their reading strategies. They now look forward to reading time in the classroom. My students are now eager to move up in their reading levels just to get to read all the books in their new leveled library.

It makes it exciting for me to teach children who want to learn to read just to get to read all the new books they have in their classroom.

Once again, your generous contributions has made a big difference in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nunez

Our school is located in the heart of Queens, New York. We are an elementary Community School that houses General Education and Special Education programs. Our student population is mostly composed of Hispanic youngsters. My students are General Education Kindergarten children. My students are mostly of Hispanic descent, whose primary language is Spanish. My classroom is made up of 14 boys and 11 girls. The parents of some of my students are immigrants and their children have not had any formal education. The reading levels in my classroom vary due to the diverse educational background my students possess. For the students without any formal education, their reading level is significantly delayed, however, some students can read on grade or above. My students enjoy looking at books and reading, however the materials I have in my classroom are old and falling part. Some of the books they love most have torn or missing pages and they often ask " Ms. Nunez, what happens there?"
