My students enter Transitional Kindergarten at four years old. They turn five from September through December.
They have the wide-eyed wonder of all children, endlessly questioning and eager for new experiences. Anything that they can touch, manipulate and explore makes them happy.
They love singing and movement activities. Their favorite times of the day are recess (of course!) and centers. They are learning to work cooperatively with their friends in building and imaginative play during their center times.
One of their most looked-forward-to activities is Buddy Day, where they create a themed art project with 2nd-grade students. They keep the same buddy all year and whenever they see their buddies outside they want to get their attention and wave.
Our school is always looking for ways to help the children learn and achieve their maximum potential. The principal guides us without constantly looking over our shoulders, which makes for a wonderfully creative environment.
