  • Books, Books, Books!

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

These books are such a nice addition for students. Students, especially those on the academic team, enjoy reading a variety of texts. The books are available for students to check out and browse whenever they have some free time available. Students have really enjoyed seeing the short story collections from authors like Bradbury. They have also enjoyed seeing the decorative exclusive editions of books like the Sherlock Holmes collection or Poe's collected works. Thank you again for your support and donations that have provided my students access to even more literature!”

  • World History, Legos, & Stem

    Funded Jan 26, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations! The entire 6th grade student body appreciates your support! The students will love having new materials to use for STEM projects and hands on learning in social studies! These Legos will allow them to visually see what ancient architecture from Egypt and other civilizations actually looked like. Once again, thank you for your support!”

  • Leveled Readers & YA Novels for Literacy

    Funded Dec 29, 2021

Thank you so much for your kind donation!! The books for this project are on my class bookshelf and my students are excited. Currently, we are finishing up reading the Hunger Games together as a class.

Due to my students' disabilities and being non-readers, I let them select a book and I then I read it to them (they prefer this over an audible version). We then answer comprehension questions about the chapters on the Kahoot! platform!

All of my students really enjoy the books and are thankful for opportunities to be exposed to rhe YA or middle grades novels that their nondisabked peers currently read!”

  • Harry Potter Unit Celebration

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you so much for your kind donations! My students absolutely loved and enjoyed the items from this project. We had a huge celebration after reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. My students watched the first Harry Potter movie and had Harry Potter themed snacks. It was very fun for them. We made Harry Potter cookies and decorated them! We had Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and Jelly Slugs. The students really enjoyed trying the variety of Bertie Bott's beans and trying to trick one another to eat some of the more unsavory flavors. Once again, thank you so much!”

  • Classroom Basics

    Funded Aug 2, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations! My students are very appreciative of the support and new supplies for our room. The new crayons, markers, and other supplies are being used my students everyday! These items have been especially useful for us as we complete a Harry Potter unit.

We have been using the crayons on markers to create crafts like little snakes like Nagini, Hogwarts acceptance letters, sorting hats, house crests, and other items. My students have really enjoyed the crayons that are glitter and metallic!

    Thank you!”

  • Functional Academics Help Us Become Independent

    Funded Dec 3, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations to this project. All of the items in this project have been and will be so beneficial to my students. My students all have severe special needs and require extra attention and instruction to make gains on skills we take for granted.

The functional academics skills we will cover using the items requested will help my students be more independent. They will learn to read simple sentences and text using the leveled readers. They will also work on sentence writing to be able to communicate simple ideas via text, email, etc. We will also use the telling time mats and calendar board to practice basic math skills to help them function in the real world! Thank you again!”

  • Sensory Needs for Autism

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. My students and I are very thankful for your support. The items are all amazing and have been so beneficial to my students.

The crash pad has been a huge hit! My students love to pile up on the crash pad and rest. It has also been great for students with autism to "crash" on for sensory needs.

The puzzles, oral stimulation chew necklace, and other items have also been used and greatly appreciated! It is really amazing to be able to provide new resources and items for my students with the support of generous donations!”

  • We Like Books and We Cannot Lie

    Funded Apr 2, 2020

Thank you so much for your kind donation. My students are very excited about the new books added to our bookshelf.

My students have access to books that they can independently read or read with some support. We are learning how to be functional readers and read to increase our greater future independence.

One of my highest readers is currently working on reading Level A readers. She is hoping to really be able to work toward the Level C and D readers we got with this project.

We are also looking forward to studying history and using some of the graphic library books!”

    With gratitude,

  • Air Fryers, Crockpots, & Life Skills

    Funded Oct 2, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations to our project! We are using the new cooking appliances to fix food and heat up items. We have used the crock pot and the crock pot liners to make a potato soup. We have also used the air fryer to heat up french fries, pizza, and other items. We have also baked some sausage with this appliance.

My students were so happy to have the new appliances. They love having new things to practice their life skills with! We plan to continue using the items to make a variety of things included cinnamon rolls, toast, soups, cookies, etc and learn new life skills like following directions and recipes.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rogers

I'm a special education teacher working as a co-teacher/collaborator in the general education setting. I collaborate in science, social studies, math, and ELA. I'm currently working with the 6th grade and follow the students on my caseload to their core classes. My students have a wide range of needs and disabilities fall under multiple categories including Autism, Other Health Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, and Specific Learning Disabilities. I also coach the academic team and this gives me an opportunity to work with gifted students and provide enrichment opportunities for them. The academic team focuses on 5 content areas: arts & humanities, language arts, math, science, and social studies. Students compete in these content areas in individual tests and quick recall (think quiz bowl). Competitions are held at the district, region, and state level.
