  • Engineers in the Making!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

A big THANK YOU to all who donated to our engineering project. The students couldn't have been more surprised, or happy when they realized that they would be building robots. The worked cooperatively in small groups to make their robots work, then had a competition to see which robot would travel the fastest. The students were then given the opportunity to make changes to their models and had another competition. They wrote comparisons on how their robots worked before and after their tweaks. Getting to see what the other students did helped them further their design.

Again, thank you for your generosity in bringing the gift of engineering to my science class.”

    With gratitude,

  • Hands-On Science

    Funded Oct 7, 2022

I was so excited to receive an email that my Hands-On Science project has been fully funded. My school has a focus on science this year and these supplies will help us meet our goal of getting my students more involved in hands-on activities. They are going to love being able to work with these materials while they are learning. Thank you so much to all of the generous donors who have made this possible for my 4th grade students!”

  • Headphones for All!

    Funded Dec 29, 2021

We couldn't be more grateful for the headphones that we received via your generosity. My very first Donors Choose project, approximately 10 years ago, was for headphones for my students. As they eventually wore out from the constant love, our need for new headphones became evident. Once again, very generous people donated to make my students' learning experience a quieter, more personal one.

The new headphones were received with great joy and have gone to good use as they use programs like Lexia and Edmentum.

Again, thank you so much for your generous gift to my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bollman

  • Watersheds & Owl Pellets, Oh My!

    Funded Dec 23, 2021

The importance of science in the education of today's students is evident in my school. We are a community of learners and place STEAM at the top of our list.

My students are always eager to learn new things, and the opportunity to learn about watersheds and about their personal accountability to our environment was eye opening for them. We had a great time learning about watersheds and the model was the perfect addition to our learning experience.

The owl pellets that were received will be used next month, as we begin learning about food webs and food chains. I can't wait to have the students investigate and learn more about this branch of science.

Your generosity in helping my students with their journey through this year's science curriculum is greatly appreciated.”

  • Graphic Novels Are Great!

    Funded Aug 25, 2021

I was overwhelmed by the show of support for my classroom and my students! We are so appreciative of your generosity.

The items that the students love the most and use the most are the books that were donated. These books helped expand my classroom library with graphic novels, mysteries and science and math related books. The students' faces lit up when they saw the number of new books that were added to the shelves.

The large Post-it Poster paper is used to put anchor charts in my classroom so the students have a print-rich learning environment. These are perfect, especially when used with the new poster markers that I received.

The pencil pouches have been stuffed and distributed to students who don't have one. A special thank you to Kleenex for their match to the other donations that were received.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bollman

  • Back to Math Basics!

    Funded Jul 31, 2021

I was overwhelmed with the show of support to my class and ultimately to my students! When writing this project, I asked for very specific items that would assist my students as we returned to the classroom after a year and a half learning from home.

Some of the items, like the fraction dominoes, elapsed time boards and decimal games will be used a little later in the year when we get to those objectives. We have, however, used the multiplication dominoes and multiplication towers, which were so well received by my students. They were so excited to be playing games; I was excited because they were also working on their multiplication facts!

The graphic novel set, Mac B Kid Spy, has been circulating through my class since we received them. My students love graphic novels, but these are favorites with my students. The pencil bags that I received have been stuffed with school supplies and given to students who don't have bags, or who break their bags. Thank you!

Last, but not least, the facial tissues are so appreciated, and thank you to Kleenex for their donation. We couldn't be more appreciative!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bollman

  • Love of Literacy

    Funded Mar 18, 2021

Words are not enough to express the appreciation that I have for the books and book bags that were donated for my students. I chose a large variety of books at different levels so all of my students could have books on their level.

These books were given to our students that returned to the classroom, as their access to books is still somewhat limited due to COVID-19 mitigations. Each student received three books that they could take home, or leave at school to read at their leisure. The students who remained virtual also got a bag of books. Parents came by the school on a non-teaching day to pick up the books for the students.

Some of our students have no books at home, so knowing that they could keep the books was so exciting for them. The kids were so happy when they saw the titles that were selected and many of them wanted to begin reading right away. I'm very grateful for your generous donation toward the literacy of my students.”

  • Reading and Science Project Boards

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations of project boards for our science and reading projects. Our plan was to have each student do a major and minor reading and science board. The boards have been carefully placed in my classroom. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, we are not there. We will, however, use the boards either when we get back into the classroom, or they will be used with next year's students.

The opportunity afforded to my students through Donor's Choose is invaluable. We are so thankful for donors like you who support our students, and who support teachers as we give the best possible education to our children.”

    With gratitude,

  • Multiply Our Success!

    Funded Nov 26, 2019

The games and activities that you donated to for my students are great! The students love playing games and I love allowing them to play games while they are learning. These activities will also be used to help struggling students practice on and improve their skills in multiplication and division. The remediation games for multiplication and division is just what we need to help the students learn in a different, more enjoyable way.

Your generosity in providing activities to my class is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bollman

  • Footies For Our Chairs!

    Funded Nov 26, 2019

Saying thank you will never be enough to express my gratitude for your generous gift. The tennis balls that you purchased for the feet of my classroom chairs were just what we needed. Not only were there enough tennis balls for my classroom, but also for the small group room adjacent to my room.

The students were so excited to see them. We are used to having to carefully lift the chairs so that they didn't scratch up the floors. Another concern was the noise that was caused by the chairs on the ceiling of the first grade class beneath us. They have commented on how much quieter it is now.

Again, thank you for your generous gift to make my classroom and school a quieter, better kept place. Our awesome custodial staff is grateful as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bollman
