Diving Into Reading: A World of Wonder
Funded Aug 16, 2016From the bottom of our fist-sized hearts, Room 22 would like to thank you for your generous donations to our classroom library! We have made leaps and bounds in our reading comprehension and overall enjoyment of reading, thanks to the books you helped purchase!
Some of our classmates have said things like, "I can't believe I want to keep reading. It's like I can't put the book down for the first time" and "Wow! I wish we had someone like Auggie [the main character of Wonder] here at school. We would be best friends!"
Donors, you have made comments like this possible in Room 22. Thank you for your generosity and love of education. You have made a lasting impression in the lives of my students. They are more willing to extend a hand to those born with special needs after meeting Auggie. They are more willing to give reading a chance and pick up a book because they once fell in love with a hardcover book with the title of Wonder on it.
From the bottom of my teacher-sized heart, I would like to thank you for being a part of change. These students will soon leave my classroom, but they will leave forever changed by the life lessons learned from Wonder, including how to have greater compassion, empathy, and understanding of differences.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Guerrero
