I teach a special ed kindergarten/first-grade class. I have students of different abilities. Some are repeating first grade, whereas others are just starting. Most of my students are learning disabled. I find that through repetition they are able to somewhat retain information. Some of my students benefit from audio and kinesthetic learning. When frustrated, some easily break down and cry. I am looking for other ways to get them motivated in their learning environment. I find that some are more engaged when they are able to use technology. They are an eager group, willing to learn. I have a good level of parental involvement. My school is geared towards doing what is best for our students.
