I'm so excited because this is our first DonorsChoose project! My students need 8 Fire tablets. If our classroom receives the donation, we will be implementing a reading/listening center. In addition to reading, listening to stories will allow my students the opportunity to understand the message, think critically about the content, use their imagination, and make connections to the material. In addition, it allows students the opportunity to hear what fluent reading sounds like, which they often don't hear at home. A large percentage of my classroom comes from illiterate homes, so they don't get a lot of opportunities to hear what fluent reading sounds like.
