A Book to Share
Funded Nov 30, 2021Once again I am humbled by the support of my community. My students love having books they can read in my classroom or take home.
I could not provide them with these books without your help. This coming school year we will have a tutorial period and having these books in the classroom for them to read will be very beneficial.
My students often cannot get the books they enjoy reading from the school library, so having them in my classroom makes it super easy for them to continue their joy of reading.”

Funded Jan 19, 2022I cannot wait until next year when we get to use these magnetic poetry words. We used paper this year and to be honest it did not go well. I know my students will have a blast when they get to physically move words to create their own poems.
The support we get from our community and beyond is amazing and it has been such a pleasure to get the materials I need to make my teaching stronger and more meaningful to my students.
Poetry can be a hard unit to teach and I think these magnetic words will make my students more interested in the topic and let's be honest, way more fun!”

Reading Is Fun
Funded Nov 19, 2021Thank you so much for your support! With students back in the classroom it has been wonderful knowing I have gotten them the kinds of books they want to read in order to become stronger readers.
At the middle school level, it is hard to get teens to read for pleasure, but at this point, it is the only way to help them improve their reading which then helps them with their academic classes. Furthermore, many of my kids report loving to read since I have the kind of books they like to read. So it is a win, win to me.
I seriously could not do this with the help of all my donors!”

Mrs. Nitto
Nothing Is Better Than a Book in Your Hand
Funded Oct 14, 2021I am so excited that we will have The Maze Runner to read this year. Last year we had to do a PDF due to DL and it was hard for the kids to follow. Thanks to your donation my kids will have the books in their hands when we read this novel in the spring.
I really cannot have the classroom library I have without my communitte's help. I know my students and I are very lucky to have the support and belief in the subjects taught in our classroom. The feedback I got from the kids that read this novel last year was that it was an exciting book and many of them read ahead.”

Bring 'New Life' to a Loved Book
Funded Oct 15, 2021Prisoner B-3087 is an amazing story of survival that needs to be read. I am so grateful for the Lee family making this project possible! Without this families donation, my students would not have the new books to read.
I informed my students that the Lee family made the donation in honor their Tanta, aunt, who is a Jewish American battling cancer, and this made receiving this books even more valuable to us.
Each time I read this with my students I am reminded how we can never forget and how important it is to learn from our past.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nitto
Happy Reading!
Funded Oct 21, 2021I would like to thank all of my donors for their generous donations to my classroom library. I can be really hard to get kids to open up a book for required reading. So, you can imagine how hard it is to get them to want to read independently.
Having a classroom library makes it so easy for them to check out a book. Plus, with their help I have been adding to my library to make sure I have books they want to read.
Each Friday we spend 30 minutes reading a book and sometimes they forget theirs, so I hand them one of mine and I get a kick out of their reaction when the time is up and they ask if they can keep the book.
I could never have such success without the help of my donors!”

Funded Apr 14, 2021I cannot thank my donors enough for their continued support. I ask for help and my donors come through; I feel very lucky to have such support. I love reading and I want to spread this joy of reading to my students.
We read the first book, The Maze Runner whole class and my kids loved it! Many of them have expressed wanting to read the rest of the novels. Now they can do just that.
With some kids returning in person this year and hopefully all next year, I can have the rest of the set ready for them when we finish reading the first book.”

Teaching Is Twice as Nice With Two Screens
Funded Mar 29, 2021Once again I am humbled by the generosity of my donors. I have been using my new screen for two weeks now and I am so happy with the results.
Many times I need to use multiple screens to "see" my students plus show them the assignment we are currently working on. If I had to split my screen on my laptop I would not be able to see them and talk about the assignment.
However, with this screen, I can do both and it has made working in distance learning that much smoother. It has definitely made it less stressful.”

Funded Mar 3, 2020Thank you so much for your continued donations to my classroom. Reading is such a powerful tool for my students. With many of them stuck at home, a book has given them the escape they need. They can check out a book during the hybrid learning time.
I would not be able to supply such a wonderful reading library for my students to use without my donors and my community's help. I look forward to my students returning in the fall to full in-class learning and enjoying all the books I have for them.”

Funded Aug 25, 2020I just want to thank everyone who donated to my classroom. In these unprecedented times, it is wonderful knowing that there are people out there to help us with our students.
I have used the earbuds during distance learning to communicate with my kids and the workbooks have given me wonderful ideas on what to teach my kids. I look forward to having them back in my rooms in the future where these items will still continue to help my students grow and learn.
Thank you for all your support over the years!”

Mrs. Nitto
