Stagecraft: A New Era
Funded Sep 3, 2021Thank you for your contributions toward the continued needs of our Stagecraft program. My goal is to be able to encourage students by learning the hard skills of construction and being a theatrical technician while also reinforcing and building the soft skills of collaboration, time management, communication, organization, and confidence. Actions speak louder than words and by financially supporting the material needs of my students you are helping to reinforce the importance of my goal.
As we've transitioned back to a primarily in-person school setting, it was important to replenish and replace items that had degraded like stools and tools as well as getting new safety storage like the flammables cabinet, for appropriately storing chemicals and spray paint. My goal as an educator and technical director is always to impress upon my students the need for safety which is why I push for OSHA standards in our scene shop and auditorium classroom.
Thank you again for all of your continued support and hope that we will have it again in the future.”

Funded Jan 28, 2021Thank you so much for your donations toward the Scene Painting Projects of Stagecraft 1 last year. This pandemic has forced creative solutions to previously unforeseen problems and you helped my students unlock their creativity during a time when mental health has been at its' lowest.
After spending three-quarters of the school year having to work primarily on a computer screen, my students were over the moon about getting to paint and get messy. They learned how to paint faux brick, wood, marble, and more, all of which are valuable skills in technical theater.
Now that our program has these tools and materials, the painting projects have bled into this school year for other classes who needed projects they could work on from home, so it has been a big help.
Thank you for the continued support of our Stagecraft program. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.”

Mrs. Lusk
Stagecraft Goes Virtual
Funded Aug 11, 2020I can't thank you enough for your support during this unstable time. The materials and supply bags that I was able to give the students, thanks to you, has allowed them to continue to create art, whether as a virtual or face-to-face student.
All of the students have enjoyed having the supply bags and they have created a sense of equity amongst the students. They have used the bags for numerous projects and activities such as sketching, learning scale rulers and drafting, and creating models and puppet theaters. They will continue to use the supplies through out the rest of the year.
My students will be learning about lighting, sound, painting, and stage properties during the spring semester, which they are excited about. I know that they have appreciated your support on past projects and will continue to need it in the future. Thank you so much.”

Funded Jan 23, 2020Thank you so much for your donations and supporting our Stagecraft program and students. We are over-the-moon that our students will be able to further their education because of the supplies your donations will purchase. Your help makes our classroom magic happen and pushes the students to work that much harder.”

Funded Aug 14, 2019Thank you so much for the new ladder and safety equipment! This fall Stagecraft students had to design and build the play: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Thanks to the warehouse ladder the students were able to safely reach all of the props in our loft storage space instead of having to go up a rickety, old wooden stair/ladder combo. All of the safety equipment helped outfit the students to use our tools more safely. Building the fall play is a bigger challenge because for all of my Stagecraft 1 students it is their first build and the need for more safety equipment is imperative.
My students were so appreciative of everything, but especially of the warehouse ladder. Many students including myself feared going up the old stair/ladder. There were no railings and it was very rocky. The new ladder will allow us to not only get to the loft but because it can move we can even use it to reach some of our lighting equipment.
We are looking forward to using all of this equipment again as we begin the build of our spring musical next semester. Thank you again!”

Funded Aug 24, 2018Thank you for all of your help acquiring the new safety and pneumatic equipment. We just finished our fall production of Antigone. The equipment you purchased helped us in ever aspect of building our set safely and quickly. Without the pneumatic tools our stair railings, pillars, cornice, door, and door frame would have taken us three times longer to complete which was time we did not have. Thanks to safety equipment like the gloves, students would not have been able to pull on the ropes of our fly system without rope burn.
Upon receiving the equipment the students were ecstatic. They find any excuse to wear the hard hats which is wonderful that being safe can be cool to teenagers. Being able to use sanders while wearing dust masks or having ear protection on while using a circular saw is so much better for the long-term health of the students even if they don't fully appreciate that yet.
Now that Antigone has finished, the safety equipment will become especially important as we start striking (taking down) the set. After that all of the equipment will be used in building our spring musical, Cinderella and other future drama productions.
Thank you again for your generosity! I cannot effectively teach my students safely and we can't build our shows without this equipment. You all have made our lives better.”
