  • Journalism Photography

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. The cameras has helped us capture moments in our school environment and our community. It has helped us interact and get hands on together as a whole.

The most exciting part for students and teachers about having cameras is that we can use the photographs to helps us build our community display as well as become powerful writers. Students have enriched their writing skills, by using photographs and becoming more analytical and critical in their writing.

Students that were shy or felt like they never had an activity that they could participate have warmed up to having cameras. They have become social butterflies and have loved having attention from others.

These new cameras have been an excellent technology to bring into our classroom and school community.”

  • Sensory Learning!

    Funded May 3, 2022

The new resources donated to us are being used for group and independent learning. During our group learning we use play-dough to create shapes/letters/numbers, independent learning students use play-dough as they wish, or use play-dough stencils to create items/letters/numbers. The students enjoy using the stamp stencils and ink pads to describe their feelings and use their fine motor skills.

When my students first saw the materials they all said "wow" they were so excited to have a sand and water table, they were also so excited to see all the play-dough and activity toys. The counting ice-cream cones were an instant hit!

The next steps for my students is being able to use the stencils and play dough to create letters/numbers and objects and then later use a pencil to draw/write letters/numbers and objects. Also, they will use the water and sand table for projects, such as fishing letter in the water table, digging dinosaurs in the sand table.”

  • Learning is Better in Color!

    Funded Jan 7, 2022

Firstly, we want to say thank you so much for donating to our project. The color printer in our classroom has made a true difference to all of us.

As a teacher I was struggling to print images in color for my students to be able to analyze and talk about. As English Language Learners they really need color to be able to identify features and be able to write and talk about them. Also, most of the ENL students are first or second year English language learners and have been use to seeing everything in color because during remote learning they used iPads for two years due to the pandemic and all their work was displayed in color.

The students are so excited to be able to have worksheets printed out in color, one student said, "the color helps me relate to my country." This truly touched my heart.

Once again, we want to say thank you for helping our learning come to life!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Garcia

  • Library and Writing Center "In Sight"

    Funded Dec 31, 2016

My students and I are using the new resources to organize our Dual Language Library (English and Spanish), our writing supplies, and our math manipulatives. We are so grateful for these new materials in our classroom. The students were very excited to see how we were able to have our English and Spanish books, art materials, and math manipulatives accessible. They smiled and cheered to see all materials well organized.

These materials have made a tremendous impact on my students reading levels. Students have been able to choose independent reading books in Spanish and English to have in their book baggies to read in class and home. This is due to the organized library we have now, where books are displayed on shelves in leveled bins. Their writing has improved as well. Students now have a choice of writing paper accessible to them, which helps me differentiate and meet their needs. Students also have their folders and writing materials: pencils, color pencils, markers, stamps and spelling letters.

Lastly, we had some shelves available and decided to use them for our math manipulatives. Students enjoy getting math materials while doing math. These materials help them solve their math problems and build their confidence to strategically solve their math problems.

Thank you so much for your donations, we are so happy to finally have our materials on sight!!!

    With much love class 201”

  • Book Learning with iPads

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

    Dear Donors,

The iPads that were donated to our classroom has helped my students advanced in their knowledge of technology and their use. Students who do not have the opportunity to work with an iPad/computer at home have learned essential skills that they will be able to improve on as they practice using these devices.

My students have been able to learn that iPads are not only useful to surf the web for their everyday interest. iPads are also very useful to use to learn. My students have been using the iPads for reading, writing and math! I have downloaded wonderful free and low cost applications and games that students can use in centers, independent reinforcement time and partner work. Center time, independent reinforcement time and partner work have become the most exciting periods throughout our school day. Students are anxious to go to center, independent and partner work time because they know they will have the opportunity to do work on the iPads.

I believe that all students in my classroom have warmed out to our iPads. Students who have this technology or a similar technology at home have asked for a list to download the same applications and games on their personal iPads/tablets. Those who do not have technology at home are very motivated and excited to use it in school. All students are grateful that we now all have the opportunity to use our iPads in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Garcia

My students are very energetic, they come from lower class working parents who may not have time to take them out to release energy. This is why keeping my students attention is very important for me. We consistently do exercise (gonoodle) and keep aour work very interactive. Our school is very big we are a Pre-K through 8th grade school. We are very diverse, each classroom has their own theme and creates a family within. Together, we teachers/administrators/students are working very closely to unite our school as a whole and help one another improve to achieve higher expectations and our goals.
