  • Utilizing Technology In Math Is Fun-damental

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the generous donation of laptops to my classroom at North Miami Middle School. These devices have been an invaluable addition to our learning environment, and I want to share how they have transformed the way my students engage with math.

With access to laptops, my students can now utilize interactive math software and engaging educational platforms that bring mathematical concepts to life. Instead of just solving equations on paper, they can visualize functions, manipulate geometric shapes, and explore data sets in real time, making abstract concepts much more tangible and understandable. Thanks to these laptops, my students are more engaged, more independent, and better prepared for the evolving world of technology-driven careers.

What excites my students is the opportunity to collaborate with their peers. Whether working together on group projects, sharing problem-solving strategies, or participating in virtual math challenges, my students are more engaged and motivated than ever. The laptops have also allowed them to learn at their own pace, accessing resources such as instructional videos, interactive practice problems, and online assessments tailored to their individual learning needs.

    T

he laptops have also been a game-changer for some ESOL Spanish and Creole students with learning differences. The technology has made math more accessible for them by allowing for visual aids, adaptive programs, and self-paced learning. They now feel empowered to tackle challenging problems independently and have demonstrated significant progress over the last few months.

On behalf of my students and myself, I want to express our deepest appreciation for your support. Your generosity has made a lasting impact on their education, and we are incredibly grateful.”

  • Pencils Help Making Mathematical Connections With Calculators and It's Functions

    Funded May 24, 2024

My 6th graders are loving the calculators because its faster and easier for them to calculate their math problems. It makes their lessons more interactive and engaging. Even though as teachers we request students to buy their own calculator at the beginning of the school year, not all students can afford calculators. Having the donated calculators, every student has the tools needed to succeed. This levels the playing field and ensures that financial limitations don't hinder learning.

With calculators available, you can spend more time teaching new concepts rather than waiting for students to complete lengthy calculations. This allows for more effective use of class. Thanks to your generosity, every student now has the opportunity to engage more effectively with mathematical concepts, from basic math to algebraic equations and to real-world problems. This has not only improved their confidence but also their performance on assignments and assessments.

In particular, I have seen a noticeable increase in student engagement and participation. With the calculators readily available, students can focus more on understanding mathematical reasoning rather than being hindered by computational limitations. It has also allowed me to introduce more interactive and challenging activities, helping to bridge learning gaps and prepare them for future academic and career opportunities.

Your kindness has truly made a difference in my classroom, and I cannot thank you enough for your support. Knowing that there are individuals and organizations willing to invest in students' success is incredibly inspiring. On behalf of my students and myself, we deeply appreciate your generosity and commitment to education.

    Thank you for your support!”

    With gratitude,

  • Rise and Excel Through Math

    Funded Nov 7, 2022

I must say how truly grateful I am receiving tools for my students to use in class. The grade level of students I teach is 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. They were excited to hear that they were able to use a calculator to help them solve math problems faster. After students learn and complete their math assignments after each topic, they take a district assessment the following class they see me again. During the district assessment, they have the opportunity to use a calculator throughout the entire assessment which never happened before when I started teaching. The students are capable of solving their math problems better than before. With that being said, their district and state assessment scores have doubled. The manipulatives also help increase their math skills and retain information when completing math strategies. The students are always asking to use the math tools daily that were bought through donors choose as a way of showing something they need so they will not feel so handicapped at solving math problems at a slow pace. They (students) are grateful to have these items in their possession. So, the students says thank you to their donor(s) for thinking about their needs to become successful mathematicians.”

  • Inspiring Global Citizens With Technology-Based Learning

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

I appreciate your generous donation to help my students and I start a great project this school year. This opportunity will give my students the exploration they need to fulfill their dreams. We will enjoy the use of the laptops and speaker for many school years to come. Thank you!”

  • Great Young Mathematicians Becoming Engineers with Technology for the Future

    Funded Feb 10, 2019

I am pleased to say thank you for your gratitude in donating the laptops to my students. The use of the students using technology has evolved around the world to make things easier, efficient, and convenience. My students have learned how to use Microsoft software such as the Microsoft Word to type responses for their assignment(s) and Microsoft PowerPoint to create slides with pictures and responses about their slides. Having to show the students how to use Microsoft Word by using the options giving to create a presentation through word, has given them the confidence to achieve anything on the device. I showed the students how to highlight words, strikeout words that consist of errors, and etc. Technology has also let the students explore websites that will help them look for things they have no understanding about or even just needing to know how to spell a word. Everything is at the students finger tips when using this type of device when it comes to doing research.

Students have a sense of territorial feeling when using laptops in their possession. Its convenient and comfortable for them to use in their own space. Being able to almost research anything they are curious about learning have a great sense of feeling to them to be able to do so and not feel so helpless. It is such a refreshing feeling to students who does not have access to laptops, computer or internet access at home to be able to achieve technology knowledge in school during class time. Students should be elated to go home and tell their parents about the use of technology in class and how it helped them learn how to explore things they have never explored before. Such as learning how to do a presentation on Microsoft PowerPoint which can be useful in the future and lead them to prosperous career.

When students continue to use the laptops for everyday technology, they will be able to walk into someone else's classroom and become very effective in using the device. They have already enhanced their learning in using the device, so it will be easier on the instructor to not have to show students how to use certain things that's applied to the device for creative and writing purposes. Students will go out into the world ready to apply their technology knowledge in the working environment that consist of using such resource. Learning to use such a device like laptops will have students come up with innovative ideas for whatever creative activity they will be involved in. Here are our future leaders getting ready for the world of technology with experience knowing the sky's the limit.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Daise

My students are bright magnet students that come to class, have the drive and the enthusiasm to be innovative young mathematicians. They all work in groups together during their assignment, but would prefer to have manipulatives or technology to help them solve math problems. Working together will help them become engaged with each other culturally and emotionally by building relationships in how to work with each other by agreeing and disagreeing working on math problems. The goal is for students to have hands on practice and discover the math problems themselves and/or in groups in how to solve math problems. They continue to be motivated working on their math assignments when they are spoken to in a positive way.
