  • Football Day Middle School Math Classroom Transformation

    Funded Jan 24, 2023

Wow! Thank you so much for your generous donation for our Football Class Transformation Day! My goal this year was to keep my students engaged in mathematics by having one classroom transformation every term. With your generosity, I was able to achieve my goal!

The classroom transformation happened the Friday before the Superbowl when students were excited about the big game. The classroom was decorated with football decor and when students came in, they were so excited!

Our activity this day was a digital football escape room reviewing solving equations. It tied in with the theme and required students to work together to "escape". It was a success and so much fun! Thank you again for your donations for my classroom transformation. You've made a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Villarreal

  • Percent Cafe Day Middle School Math Classroom Transformation

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Let me express my deepest gratitude for your generosity in funding my Percent Cafe Day! My goal this school year was to keep my middle school students engaged in mathematics with a classroom transformation every term. With your help, I was able to achieve that goal.

When my students arrived in class on the Percent Cafe Day, they were amazed and excited! The room was decorated like a cafe, and they had task cards of menu items that they had to calculate the total with tax and tip. Parents provided snacks which made this day even more exciting and realistic.

I cannot express to you enough how much I appreciate your donation. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Villarreal

Wow! Your generous donation helped beef up my school supply closet for my students! From pencils to binders to sticky notes to page protectors, we are set for the year! Students now know that because of your generosity, they can get the necessary supplies to be successful in my classroom.

Donations like yours help students know that they matter and that their education is valued. It also supports teachers like myself who are always scrambling for supplies that are a vital part of our instruction.

  • This is AVID Elementary!

    Funded Oct 25, 2019

I wanted to thank you again for supporting our AVID Elementary students. Your generous donations have allowed our kids to be more organized with their binders.

Organization is a prerequisite for success. Teaching organizational skills helps students for their current task (school) while preparing them for their being college and career ready. Simple tools such as binders, dividers, and page protectors, increase learning time and grades earned by students while decreasing their frustration.

With the dividers and binders that were purchased through this funded project, students are able to better keep their papers, handouts, notes, and information in a safe and secure spot in their binders. They are set up for success!

Your donations has made a huge impact at Elk Grove Elementary School!”

  • Rocketbooks for AVID Focused Note Taking

    Funded Dec 18, 2018

The students at Elk Grove Elementary could not be more appreciative of the generous donation to fund our project "Rocketbooks for AVID Focused Note-Taking". Elk Grove Elementary is in our first year of being an AVID Elementary School. This year our school goal involved student organization grades TK-6. The Rocketbooks are definitely having a positive impact on organization!

Our EGE students were thrilled when they found out the project was funded! They are excited to take notes and interact with technology.

We are using the Rocketbooks for focused note-taking (an AVID WICOR strategy). Once the notes are completed, we are able to upload the notes to Google Classroom for other students to use, add to, and refer to. Parents are also able to see what their children are working on in school because of the Rocketbooks. Having a digital version of the notes is helping to keep everyone organized.

Thank you again for seeing the value in this project and the potential in our students.”

  • Chromebooks for Kids to Code and Meet Common Core Standards

    Funded Jan 19, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations for Chromebooks for Kids to Code and Meet Common Core Standards! My students are beyond excited to be utilizing their new Chromebooks. We use them each and every day in class to learn how to computer code, to read, research, write, and create presentations. Students' engagement levels have skyrocketed and they are excited to show all they are learning. My English Language learners use the Chromebooks daily to acquire English using Rosetta Stone and MobyMax. I'm able to see their progress and give immediate feedback.

Thank you again for giving to our project, you are truly amazing!”

  • Chromebooks for Kids to Code and Meet Common Core Standards

    Funded Oct 17, 2016

Thank you for your generous donation of four Chromebooks and headphones for my sixth grade students! Because of this donation, my students are able to do most of their work at school digitally. This technology helps motivate them and keeps them engaged.

My students are excited to show what they've learned whenever technology is involved! They create slide presentations in their Google Drives about a novel they're reading, they take assessments and receive immediate feedback using Google Forms, they practice Common Core Language Arts skills using MobyMax, and are able to check their grades daily using an online grading program.

My English Language Learner students have benefited especially from your donation. They can practice Rosetta Stone digitally using the Chromebook and headphones. The headphones allow them to speak into the microphone and receive feedback on their pronunciation in English. How incredibly exciting!

Again, thank you for your donation and impacting the lives of each and every one of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Villarreal

  • Chromebooks for Kids to Meet Common Core Standards

    Funded Oct 6, 2015

My students were thrilled to hear that our project was funded! We have been working to raise money in various ways this year for Chromebooks for our classroom, and having the funding for five additional Chromebooks brought great joy to my fifth-graders!

As you can see from the pictures, my students are highly engaged in learning, researching, and writing when on the Chromebooks. They are creating presentations (much like PowerPoint) about different topics we are learning about, the most current being The Age of Exploration. They love to use this technology to learn their states and capitals as well.

Student learning has skyrocketed in my classroom this year because of Chromebook use! Their writing has improved tremendously since being able to use their Google Drives to draft essays, research, edit and revise. As a teacher, my ability to give them feedback on writing and research has become instantaneous.

My fifth-graders are also learning to code computers at code.org. This turning them on to the love of computer sciences and opening doors for future careers! Not only are they learning computer science, but they are having a lot of fun doing it.

Thank you again for your generosity and support. We are so grateful for your donation. Just know that you've made a huge impact on the learning, motivation, and focus in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Villarreal

The 5th grade students in my class are motivated to learn, especially when they can show their knowledge using technology! They love watching math videos and practicing any new skill or concept online. My school is in Northern California in an old farm town that has boomed into a city. We have an active parent group and a supportive community as well. Unfortunately, our school district is quite behind in technology. With this grant, my students would have opportunity to make academic gains with technology.
