  • Listening and Speaking Headphones

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Headphones can significantly benefit English as a Second Language (ESL) learners by enhancing focus, promoting language skills, and providing a personalized learning experience, especially when used with audio resources and in conjunction with texts. These headphones create a controlled auditory environment, minimizing background noise and allowing learners to concentrate on the audio input, whether it's a lesson, a story, or an exercise. As well, children can listen to materials at their own pace and repeat sections as needed, which is particularly helpful for building vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and understanding complex sentence structures. These

headsets immerse students in the sounds of the language, helping them to hear pronunciation, patterns, expressions, and accents, which is crucial for developing fluency and comprehension of the English language; Furthermore, by listening to passages and directions in English, learners can practice language and get feedback at their own level, without the distraction of other sounds in the classroom.

Improved Literacy. In our classroom we use audio tools, such as audiobooks and interactive storytelling apps because it significantly improve literacy skills as listening to stories read aloud can help them develop a better understanding of phonetics, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Lastly, these headsets allow our students to benefit from online collaboration and to listen at their own level and pace which helps them grow as learners.”

  • Visual Display to Help Us Learn in Kindergarten

    Funded Jan 24, 2025

The biggest thing that I believe works with MLL/ELL student's is to use visuals. Not just pictures and diagrams but also visuals of the agenda, visuals of the important steps to solve a problem or big idea concepts, etc. This is helpful for my kids (and a lot of others) for a couple of reasons.

It allows them to easily catch up if they miss something, can't understand the first time, or get stuck and want help but don't want to ask. It also allows them to preview what they're going to be learning or doing that day (in the case of an agenda or whatever) so they have context going into the lesson and can pull from prior knowledge. It aids in decoding in language. They can associate sounds and symbols, which leads to easier, faster, more natural fluency, and comprehension than memorizing or decoding from verbal cues alone. It helps me to help my students have a quick reference to the learning targets and anchor charts. These desk easels with help students refer to preciously taught concepts and refresh the strategy to use.”

  • MLL/ELL with IEPs Learning ABC

    Funded Oct 8, 2024

Visual supplies, like picture cards, schedules, or symbols, can have a significantly positive impact on an autistic child by providing structure, aiding communication, reducing anxiety, and promoting independence, allowing them to better understand their environment and daily routines, often leading to improved overall functioning and social interactions. The supplies I received because of generous donors such as yourself made such a positive impact on my MLLS/ELLS with special needs. It made them happy and made us happy to help engage them in classroom activities; Furthermore, they grasp concepts because of the visual representation, making information more accessible. Thank you!”

  • Hispanic Heritage Month

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

We are celebrating our culture and heritage with the decorations we received from the donation we received. We created a bulletin board taking pride in our background and even created a PowerPoint to share with our school community. It is a time to be proud of who you are and your cultural background.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the unique voices and experiences of Hispanic/Latino Americans and recognize their history, journeys, and achievements. Through these celebrations, we can all help to inspire younger generations and bring communities together. Once again thank you for contributing to our classroom and allowing us this time to shine!”

  • ENL Newcomer-We Can Learn English

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

Teachers Pay Teachers has had a profound impact on the teaching community and really helps ENL teachers with supplemental material. It provides teachers with access to a vast array of high-quality resources that are created and tested by fellow ENL educators. This allows ENL teachers to find materials that align with our specific language needs especially for those students who are new to the country and the ENL teacher does not speak the students home language. The resources help ENL teachers look for materials that incorporate specific language needs that enhances our instructional practices. Teachers pay Teachers also fosters collaboration and networking among ENL teachers since many schools only have one ENL teacher. We can connect with like-minded professionals, share ideas, and seek advice, creating a supportive community. Teachers pay teachers can also serve as a for ongoing professional development by learning from the best ENL practices, discover new ENL instructional strategies, and stay up-to-date with the latest ENL educational trends. This is why I am using my Teachers pay Teachers gift card to provided my ENL students access to high-quality resources that will help them learn English. Thank you once again for the Teachers pay teachers gift card.”

  • Social Emotional Learning Through Literature

    Funded Dec 1, 2022

Books are a fantastic way to explain and explore different emotions with children. From beautifully illustrated pictures books for younger readers to chapter books for older readers, these books start conversations on social-emotional learning in my classroom. SEL are language skills, which English Language learners are also rapidly developing. The communication skills they learn through language arts are the ways in which they will express their social and emotional learning to the world. Incorporating social-emotional learning in my class creates a more positive learning environment. It teaches the kids the importance of feeling safe when they express themselves, of being respected, and of responding in kind. With the right social-emotional learning books, you can make this happen for the kids in my class. English language learners can face a number of difficult situations, such as moving to a new country, trying to fit into a new school, and learning a different language. They may also have significant family responsibilities or experience with trauma. These resources provide guidance on how to help address some of these needs as well as draw on student strengths and resilience. That is why I am so grateful for your donation as these resources will drastically help my students.”

  • Super Star Language Learners

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. These teaching tools we received from your generous donations will help my students with new vocabulary, and practice pronunciation and help them to participate in class. The use of flashcards helps me introduce a new word through an image and that image is about any vocabulary words. These flashcards engage the ability to think clearly which is considered efficient learning. ENL students learns best by seeing the information in an example format. Students are far more likely to remember visuals rather than words. This technique will help increase not only their memory and vocabulary of school work but give them experience in the right direction.”
