I work with a group of students from diverse backgrounds. I have special education students who are reading below grade level. As well students who are English language learners. All of my students are struggling readers. Our school is in an urban district with nearly 1000 students. The children in our school are 90% English language learners. For many of the students, coming to school is the most stable and safe place for them. For my students, my classroom is not only their place to learn but their comfortable and stable home.
