  • Reading Intervention Made Simple

    Funded Dec 21, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting this project! Today I got the gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers and I immediately ordered the hands-on materials I wanted for my learners.

They will be used with students in need of reading "intervention". That means students who are consistently behind their age-level peers in academics. The students meet in small groups and use hands-on methods to catch up. Our program is very successful and typically 80% of our intervention students DO catch up.

Your kind donation helps buy the materials we need.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Platt

  • Intergenerational Compassion Project

    Funded Sep 10, 2024

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our compassion project and to fund it. My students go to school directly across the street from a care home. The home is filled with senior citizens who need extra support with day to day living. My students visit the home each Halloween to do a parade and the kids and residents LOVE it! This year, we are going to try building multi-generational relationships by visiting once a month to play games, talk, read with the elders, and share a snack. The kids are super excited to play Checkers, Slap Jack, Connect Four, War, and other games with their older friends. Thank you for making it possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Platt

  • Maker Space for Creative Kids!

    Funded Apr 19, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting this project to bring creativity to students! I filled the cart with the art supplies your donation provided. I added scraps of fabric, googly-eyes, buttons, cardboard, yarn, paint, and other goodies to the cart too. The kids were THRILLED! When they were able to have maker-space time they squealed with delight! Seriously! They were overjoyed and got to cutting, gluing, coloring, and creating! The projects they made that first day and will make here-after will help them flex their creative muscles and feel proud of their ideas and art.”

  • Soaring with SOR (Science of Reading)

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

The generous donation you shared with my students is used to purchase updated materials from Teacher Pay Teachers. Games, centers, lesson plans, tools, and worksheets are in need of nearly constant upgrade. We are bolstering our work with best practices in teaching English language arts determined through brain research. That means more phonics, decodable readers, and games that target growth based on individual student need. You make that possible!

I hope you find the time too look at the pictures I posted of students hard at work (more like play in their minds) with the materials your donation allowed me to purchase.”

  • Decodable Books for Delightful Kiddos

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Thank you so much for sharing your hard-earned money with my students. They are so excited to have REAL books to read. Some of my kiddos are just learning to "break the code" to read. That means they needed phonetically regular books to practice with. You make that possible!

Right now, a little boy sits next to me gleefully reading his book. Thanks to you, he's bound to grow quickly as a reader and soon won't need these phonetically regular books. Soon, he'll be able to choose any books he wishes to read from the library and dig in.”

    Mrs. Platt

  • All Kiddos CAN Read!

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous gift! I used the gift cards to order phonetically regular readers for my wonderful students. The books are printable. That means that students can mark them up, interact with them, and them bring them home to keep as a part of their personal libraries at home.

Kids LOVE to read what they CAN read. These books are made so that they follow a learning continuum. Once students know the letters and sound combinations in the book, it is readable.

I wish you could be here to watch the children's faces light up when they find real books that they can read without help! It's priceless!”

  • Fine Motor Fun!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting us with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards. We use them to buy templates for making enriching center activities to grow both academic skills in literacy and math and fine motor growth.

The children LOVE the "games" we make them. Honestly, they are working hard and they don't even know it, it feels like play! I wish you could see it in action!

Because of your generosity students have new materials that will help them reach their reading and writing goals rapidly and with an abundance of joy!”

  • Building Castles to Grow the Brain!

    Funded Apr 28, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting the Building Castles to Grow Brains project! The materials arrived today and I was so excited I got them right into the classroom! The kids went wild. I am totally serious when I say that there were gasps and even squeals of joy! Kids built to their hearts' content! There were cars and garages, houses and buildings, a farm, and yes, a castle or two! The creativity was exciting and inspiring.

YOU did this! YOU brought this opportunity and joy to my students through your open-hearted generosity. YOU made a difference.

    Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Platt

  • Readers are Leaders!

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

As usual, you came through for my sweet Saints! Whenever new books arrive the kids go crazy. I can barely open the box before kids are reaching in. This time was no different!

The boys were thrilled to see the new sports-related titles. I was thrilled to see the titles that help me teach social emotional learning lessons. The girls were thrilled to see the books about dogs. EVERYONE was excited for the books about the Titanic! Enough for an entire group to read together!

Thank you for your kind-hearted and generous support. Bless you!”

  • Kindergarten Center Fun!

    Funded Dec 21, 2021

My goodness! I wish you all could have been here to see the kindergarten kiddos when they got the materials for their new centers! I am not exaggerating when I say it was a happy pandemonium! The kids jumped up and down, hugged me and each other, and make statements such as (and I quote), "I can't believe it! This is the best day of my life! I want centers all day!"

We work hard in our kindergarten classrooms to keep kiddos engaged and enthusiastic about learning and also to challenge each child at her or her just-right level. Your wonderful donations helped me buy the materials we need to do just that.

I am so happy. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Platt
