I had never been as excited to read an email today, as I was when I saw the one from DonorsChoose. As soon as I read it after school, I ran down the hallways looking for my principal and counselor. I can not wait to get to the school tomorrow to share this wonderful news with all of my kids. The supplies that you have helped us get will help my kids with building their social skills and learning.
I do not think I could ever say thank you enough times to truly express the gratitude we all feel in my classroom. Thank you for taking time to give back and for investing in my classroom. My students are the children that other teachers give up on. I am the last chance students receive before they are sent out to an alternative school. Our students are 90% Title I. The students are from many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and a lot of them have no positive role model in their life. My students live in a community that does not promote positive resolution of conflict, nor putting your heart on your sleeve. Many of them lack good role models and often demonstrate an openness to learn from the professional adults who seek to guide and nurture them.
