I teach in a supported kindergarten class in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which is designed to support students with special needs within a general education kindergarten environment. My classroom is composed of 17 kindergarten students. My school is Title I, which indicates a high population of students receiving free or reduced price lunch.
My student population consists of of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, specific learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, English language learners, and general education students. Despite the barriers, my students show lots of excitement for learning.
