My students are ages 18-21. Most of them have cognitive disabilities and other learning exceptionalities that impact the ways in which they can access information. They come to a community center 3 times a week for our job readiness class to learn how to obtain and maintain a job, manage their finances, engage in their community, and advocate for themselves in their future as adults. They have completed their traditional academic high school programming and are preparing for life as adults. In addition to on the job training and work experiences, the students are preparing for living on their own, participating as active community members, and living well-rounded productive lives.
