My students know that reading is one of the most important skills they are learning to help them be successful both in and out of the classroom. During reading workshop, students work independently to practice the skills they are learning while I work with small groups. In order to build their reading stamina and independence, I would like to provide them with their own Time For Kids magazine. This is an engaging, weekly publication that includes real-world issues and information and integrates social studies, science, and math in its content. The articles and activities it contains will help students strengthen their understanding of nonfictional texts while they learn about current events and issues around the world.
