I am teaching a brand new course for 7th graders who are reading below grade-level when they enter the secondary setting. One of my biggest and most important tasks as a reading teacher is to help these students find books that they like and can read confidently and capably. I taught my students how to find books that appeal to them and are appropriate, and these are the books they chose! With your help, each of my students will be able to place a book in my classroom library that he or she hand-picked. The students will get first dibs on these books and as the selectors, they can recommend them to friends to read, too!
