Flexible Seating and Thinking!
Funded May 11, 2018The Flexible Seating has had such an impact on my classroom environment! I work in a class of students with varying disabilities including Autism, ADHD and learning disabilities. When my students saw the flexible seating options they were so excited. Providing these different seating options has allowed my students to succeed academically. We use the seating every day and it is especially helpful during independent reading. My students went from being able to read independently for only 15 minutes to reading now for almost 25 minutes and it's only December!
My next step is to allow students to use the flexible seating throughout the day whenever needed. Students are becoming aware of their bodies and are learning when flexible seating would benefit them. I love when students come to me and ask if they could they could use a wobble stool and then I see them succeed in writing or math.
Your donation has helped my class and students more than you know!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mistretta
This classroom project was brought to life by Google.org and one other donor.Come to the Rug and Meet My Students!
Funded Jul 8, 2015It is only December and the rug has already had a huge impact on my class. We use the rug every day for whole class and small group instruction. We meet on the rug each morning to discuss our day and it is so nice that each student feels like he/she has a special spot in the room. The rug is big enough that each student has their own area to come to each day. Having the space to fit all 30 of my students makes classroom instruction and management much easier! Students are comfortable when sitting together as a class on the rug because they have enough room for themselves.
When the students walked into the room for the first time with our new rug they had a smile on their face from ear to ear. They couldn't believe how big and colorful our classroom looked all because of a rug. They were so excited to get their spots and sit on it for the first time. Many students even took it upon themselves to check their shoes before walking on it!
This rug has made a huge impact on my teaching and my students learning. They enjoy coming together to learn and have discussions. We have currently entered the world of Ancient Egypt and are beginning to learn more about the Egyptian culture. With the help of the rug students are able to spread out, conduct research and work in small groups together.
I can not thank you enough for your generous donation to my classroom. You have helped create a more comfortable and safe learning environment for my students, that they love coming to each day!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mistretta
