I teach 23 first grade students. My students are very eager to learn and love to read. My students are reading on many different grade levels, so I have to research books to make sure they have the appropriate book for their levels. My students come from a high poverty level community and do not get a lot of help and support at home. 99.5 % of my students qualify for free lunch. When I bring new books into the classroom, their eyes light up.
