AR Kids Can Code!
Funded May 14, 2019Thank you again for donating to my library! My students are really enjoying their new Cubelets. We use them during library centers, and I have been amazed at how creative and innovative they've been with the Cubelets! I didn't give them any instruction on how to use them, and they made me so proud when they immediately starting building, creating and figuring out what each individual cube could do alone and when joined with the others!
My students and I are so grateful for your support as we grow and learn as future computer scientists!”

Funded May 17, 2018Thank you so much for donating to our Library Makerspace Project! Thanks to you, we are now able to have Makerspace centers in the library!
The extra Osmo stands I purchased enable us to have 5 centers using the different Osmo apps, including Coding Jam, which lets them code the app to make music. and Pizza Co., a pizza cafe game that allows them to practice their math and money skills as well as time and money management. Both of those games were also purchased with the funds you donated.
You can see from the pictures that when we do Makerspace centers there are many different kinds of learning happening, and most importantly, my students are having so much fun!
Thank you again for your kind and generous donation!”

Sorry About the Mess, but We Are Learning Here!
Funded Oct 3, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students have been so excited to learn, explore and create with our new Makerspace activities. Since I'm in the library in an elementary school, I'm still working out the kinks for implementing them with a whole class, so I started by introducing one activity at a time during small group time. My students were so excited to try each new activity and I loved seeing them discover which one was their favorite (they often gravitated toward the one I thought they would, but I had a few who surprised me!). The best part about Makerspaces is that my kids are learning what it means to work as a team and how important it is to listen to each others ideas and contributions. I've loved seeing them forge new friendships as they discover things they have in common through working together on their chosen activity. Again, my students and I thank you for your generous contributions.”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 3 other donors."The More You Read, The More Things You Will Know"
Funded Feb 9, 2017Thanks to your generous donations, my collection of Dr. Seuss books has grown from only 4 to 25! I was thrilled to receive the books in time for Read Across America Week and was able to read aloud from several of them before putting them on the shelves.
Some people may struggle to understand why a 3-5 library would need/want Dr. Seuss books, but his books have been proven to help struggling readers as well as teach things like empathy and forgiveness. Many speech and language pathologists also use them to help their students by having them read the books with tongue twisters aloud.
Many of my struggling readers in all grades have checked out several of the books and with Dr. Seuss, a fifth grader doesn't need to be embarrassed by checking out a picture book because everyone loves Dr. Seuss, not to mention that many of the books have a reading level of 3rd or 4th grade.
Thank you again for your generous donation! Your giving spirit has ensured that the students of Gentry Intermediate School will be able to enjoy a large collection of Dr. Seuss books for many years.”

Funded Oct 24, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donations toward the purchasing of graphic novels for my library. My students and I were thrilled when the package arrived and I really enjoyed seeing their faces as they helped me open the box. They were so excited!
I am a librarian in a high poverty school, so many of my students do not have access to reading material at home, especially graphic novels, which can be a little more expensive than a regular book. While the small town I teach in does have a public library, the children and young adult sections are very small and very limited in the variety of reading material available. Your donation has helped me to give these kids access to reading material they would not have had otherwise.
My students were so thrilled to receive the new reading material, and many of them expressed surprise that we were able to get the books because of the generosity of strangers. So, not only did your donation provide these kids with new reading material, but it also showed them that there is still kindness in the world. Again, thank you so much for your generosity and support.”
