Comic Life Inspiration
Funded Dec 4, 2017The new resources I received were much appreciated! I was constantly seeking online professional development opportunities to bring new, exciting teaching and learning opportunities for my students. With the acquired resources, I was able to make a the technology helped enhance my instruction. Through the resources, I was able to engage in professional development sessions online with the iPad, and use the app Comic Life to implement literacy skills and strategies on how to teach my students to become their own authors and graphic designers.
Overall, these items were needed to increase my development as a professional and have a greater impact when working with my students. I have been able to acquire more skills and strategies in the area of differentiated instruction for students with disabilities, and I will continue to turnkey my increased knowledge to help teachers meet the literacy needs of special education and general education students in classrooms- a win for all!”

Funded Mar 5, 2017Although technology has become commonplace in our society today, the power of its use within our schools is still evolving. The way we use technology has completely transformed the way we live our lives, and it's no wonder that my students have been using this technology to enhance their experience of the education they are provided with. The acquisition of this Chromebook has had a positive impact in the process of teaching and learning by allowing students to expand their critical thinking and problem solving skills at the drop of a dime. The internet is such a powerful tool, and allows my students to research their projects that include: comic strips with plot, characterization, setting, point of view, Ancient Chinese dynasties, Ancient Rome, etc. Regardless of income, background, or disability, there is an increase in the importance of fostering and developing these technological skills in my students so that they will be prepared to enter the workforce once they complete their education. My students are certainly shaping the way they learn, and having fun doing it!
More than anything, I think this Chromebook has enhanced the excitement of learning in many of my students! Not only do my students with disabilities have the ability to learn at their own pace with this equipment, but many of the features allow for individualized instruction. My students can learn according to their abilities and needs, and it allows me to work with students who may need more individualized instruction and supplementation.
This technology has allowed my students to become more actively engaged, participate in groups more often, and connect to real-world experts regarding issues or problems that we discover in class, while providing numerous opportunities for expressing and understanding through multiple modalities (visual, audio, etc.). Moreover, it has also allowed me to frequently interact with my students and provide real-time feedback to them, which is critical and greatly enhances learning and achievement. Through research, my students have acquired and refined their analytical and problem-solving skills as they have been working individually and in groups to research, process and synthesize information that they have found.”
