  • Reading My Way!

    Funded Jan 10, 2022

Thank you so much for the generous donations. They have let us purchase book sets. These book sets are on a lowers level to make reading fun and even challenging for some. The best thing is that they are colorful and interesting.

In the classroom we do independent reading with scholar chosen books to help us build out stamina. We also use these book sets for small group, guided reading instruction. We work on many skills such as sequencing, main ideas, point of view, etc...

The students loved opening the boxes and checking out the new books. The vivid pictures make it the scholars favorites.”

Welcome to our classroom which we call 4 Cornell. In our school all classes are named after colleges. The pictures are showing the "At-Your-Seat Storage Sacks made by Lakeshore. The scholars loved getting these new chair pickets to put all there supplies in and keep them organized. It is also great with helping the scholars be responsible. we like that all the scholars have their own stuff so we keep germs to a minimum. We are waiting on or first issue of Time for Kids. We are really excited to use this in our Social Studies curriculum so the scholars can read and view items on their grade level. They will also be able to use these when we are doing research projects.

They love when we get new materials and supplies in the classroom. Thank you donors and Donor Choose for your continued support.”

Many have been home the over a year. seeing new things in the classroom that are supporting their learning has made the transition easier. • Renew, Refresh, Ready to Learn

    Funded Feb 18, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations. This year has been a difficult and unusual year. Some students in person and some learning from home. Everyone on the computer presenting digital lessons. Transferring over teacher from one modality to the other has been challenging at time. Getting digital lesson in new innovative ways has help keep the students engaged and coming back to class day after day. It has helped the teachers get a basis for creating slides. It also helped use funds that would have been used in other areas to support the scholars.”

  • Cricut + Scholars= Meaning Learning & Creativity

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations. We have been planning on using the items to promote a creative social, emotional outlet. The scholars weren't sure what everything was when we opened the boxes and showed all the items to them. When we told them all that can be done with the items and had them do some research they became excited to try it out. They all had items of projects they wanted to try and create.

Some of the scholars saw things online that people made and suggested we make some things and try to sell them. It had us thinking of setting up a mock business plan. How much the materials cost, time spent making item, and how much you can sell it for. It will get the scholars college and career ready by learning a business format and how to use different appliances, material and computer programs. It will be good work for our Exit project for the school year. We are really exited to get started since some of the scholars have returned to the classroom. Thank you again for your generous donations.”

  • Let the Learning Begin....Safety First!

    Funded Sep 1, 2020

Thank you very much for your generous donations. It has made a difficult time easier.

Every student is able to have their own individual items. The notebook were set up for them for all common core subjects and a special area for them to sketch in. This a great for them to have a break from the computers and relax their minds. They were all give their own station of tools to learn with. Whatever they need they have at their fingertips for their use only. Keep them safe and giving them responsibility to take care of their items.

When I take about safety it is about having soap, hang sanitizer, masks, wipes, and gloves on a daily basis available to use to keep themselves and the classroom clean. It is even more important ow that we have just had open enrollment for students to opt into blended learning and the numbers of Covid going up in New York. Thank you again for your generous donations which are being used on a daily basis to help my "kids".”

    Funded May 17, 2019

The label on the packet says it all. "Build your self-esteem through self-care. Have a great summer and take care of your mind and your body."

The scholars were excited to get their care packages. Their faces lite up knowing it was theirs. We did lessons on how the items are used properly and even watched some videos. We help them see the importance of taking care of themselves and feeling good promotes motivation of doing great things. They especially enjoyed they snacks. The cookies were put on a platters and used when we invited parent to the classroom to show off our exit projects.”

My students live in a high need, poverty area. They receive free breakfast and lunch. Many stay for after school programs and get dinner at school as well. They are a great bunch of children who deserve every opportunity to succeed. I do not want them to be defined by where they live or the money they have. I want to provide them with the skills to get college ready for the future.
