I have selected items that will help increase our literacy environment. Clip boards, dry erase boards and markers, will all be used to increase whole class instruction as well as individualized work during small groups. The dry erase boards will be used in small reading groups to help the students practice word solving skills and decoding skills. The dry erase boards will also be used in whole group instruction for activities such as math practice problems. The clip boards will be used to make our learning mobile. Sitting at a desk all day can be boring! I want my students to be able to take their work on the go around the room. They will be used in scavenger hunts and partner work. My goal for my students is to be able to be more hands-on in their learning and take more ownership in their work. Our classroom library is in desperate need of a face lift! We have been using books bins left over from the teacher before and they have seen better days! I chose new sets of book bins to help organize our library, so my students have an easier time choosing books. These bins will store all of our books and will be labeled by level or genre, to help the students find the "just right book." Reading books at the appropriate level can help students improve their comprehension and can help increase their reading skills.
