The Breakfast Club for Encouraging Reluctant Readers
Funded Jan 1, 2010Thank you again for your support our of classroom project. Your generosity has meant so much to my class.
This project has been great for motivating my reluctant readers. My plan was to have book clubs where the students would read a book and get together with classmates before school to discuss the book. As I opened the box of books, the students quickly gathered around and they were just thrilled at the titles I selected. I told them about the book clubs and they ALL wanted to sign up! The first group just meet this week, and they loved sharing the book Escaping the Giant Wave over a cup of hot chocolate. We each brought up our favorite parts of the book and enjoyed hearing what other students thought about the story. We had a great discussion and they can't wait for the next book. The other students in my class are excited for their turn to read a book and share it in a "Breakfast Book Club".
Because of your generosity, my students have a renewed interest in reading and they can't wait to share the books with each other. ”

Seeing is Believing!
Funded Sep 18, 2009I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to my third grade class. My students were so excited when I showed them the new math materials and told them how you gave us those items because you cared about our learning.
We recently studied telling time and figuring out elapsed time, and the new instructional clock I received made this tricky topic easier for some students. Now we are learning equivalent fractions, and the fraction bars for the overhead projector were terrific for demonstrating this concept.
I am so thankful for the items my class now has available as we learn math concepts this year!”

Show Me What You Know! - Dry Erase White Boards for Math
Funded Nov 9, 2008I cannot express how much I appreciate your generosity. My students mean so much to me, and I am thrilled that I will be better able to give them practice time in math. My third graders are excited learners, and I only want to encourage their excitement. The items that I will receive because of your thoughtfulness will enable me to continue challenging them as well as keeping that excitement going. I can't wait to tell my class that we received this project and they will ALL have a turn to "show me what they know" in math. Thank you again”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Clapper
