My school is a low poverty Title 1 school in Phoenix, Arizona. This school services around 500 students. Every student receives free breakfast and free lunch each school day.
My students are creative and humorous. Many of them live in poverty but still come to school with positive attitudes. I have students who are the primary caregiver to younger siblings and are responsible to take care of them after school. Numerous students do not know where the next meal is coming from if it is not given at school. A few of my students are not sure where they are going to sleep that night. My students live in incredibly difficult situations. With all of the obstacles these kids face, they still remain optimistic about the future. The beauty of teaching them for many years is I am able to witness them overcome these challenges and grow into amazing human beings.
My students are grateful for the supplies we have an we have and they always take good care of the equipment we have.
