My 6th grade students are eager to extend their learning! We have been reading informative texts about tweens that achieve their goals and live their dreams. Not only are these characters motivated, skilled, and exceptional, they model the importance of a healthy mind and body. In class, students began discussing the importance of healthy students. "If we want to be great, we need to be healthy and smart." One student courageously shared that she didn't know how to be a healthier version of herself. Immediately, her peers suggested that she check out social media and videos on her cell phone that support healthy diets and exercise. Sadly, she admitted that she didn't have a cell phone, nor did she have internet at home. Eager to support their classmate, students enthusiastically shared a need for us to have chromebooks in the classroom for student use. They explained that if they are expected to be healthy and smart, they need access to computers! Students have a dream to add chromebooks to our classroom to support strong, healthy 6th graders.
