  • Helping My Students Reach Their Goals

    I want to thank each of you for your generosity in helping to fund my project. Starting at a new school brings many challenges and knowing that I was going to receive these items truly helped to alleviate some for the worries a new school year can bring. These items have not only added to my student's daily lives they have made my small group instruction possible.

    When my students first saw some of the items that we had received (the fidgets, the learning centers, the snacks) they could not contain their excitement. They all wanted to try each new thing immediately. The fidgets have been an essential tool in helping my students lower anxiety and remain focused during instruction and when completing assignments. Not only have my students used them, but students from other classes come to borrow them daily. They are varied adn each student has found one that they truly enjoy using.

    The learning centers and white board are the hallmark of my classroom. My students love using the centers during small group and the white board is the only way I am able to deliver whole group instruction in my classroom. These items make learning and growth possible everyday in my room. From the bottom of my heart I thank you.”

  • iPad Minis to Maximize Learning

    Thank you so much for the technology that you have so generously donated to my classroom and to our school. The impact of these items has been remarkable. I am now able to have multiple students working on math and reading interventions at the same time. Not only are the students able to work on their interventions programs, but the I-pads also allow me more time to work in small groups and one on one with struggling learners. I know that each of my students needs one on one attention and interventions and your donations have allowed for both of these things to occur. I also now have another incentive in my classroom that students can work towards earning with positive and on task behaviors. Thank you again for your generosity, it has done more than I can put in to words.”

  • Bring Learning to Life!

    I just wanted to thank each and every one of you again for helping to fund my project. My students have been using their new I-pad to complete activities and interventions that have already helped improve testing scores. When my students know the i-pad is "coming out" they work extremely hard to be on the list to use it. They simply love using it!!!!! Not only has the i-pad helped them improve in their academic abilities, it has also helped to control some of the more difficult behaviors my students exhibit. Each child knows that it is a privilege to use the I-pad and work hard to earn that privilege.

My Emotional Support students are 4th-6th graders. They are low income, inner city students. Many live with a single parent, in foster homes or in temporary shelters. The class size is large and the needs of the children are many. About 70% of students are currently reading below grade level. We try to build up our students background knowledge with computer based programs to meet their needs.
